oh god I remember that mag!

My favorite (nostalgic, for lack of a better word) quote in that entire article was the comment about a "online conference held on the on-line service GEnie."

Up until about five minutes ago, I had forgotten GEnie existed.

I almost forgot that they completely eliminated the need for blue screen. thats pretty funny too, cause now thats all the sets are...

David Prowse in a Q&A-session in Sci-Fi Universe Magazine #11, november 1995:

"I would love to play Anakin, but there's some talk about Mark Hamill filling that role, playing his own father. I don't know how they'd explain his going from his size to my size when he plays Darth Vader, though. Whoever they choose needs to be a very physical actor. He could be the greatest dramatist in the world, but without a physical presence, Vader wouldn't be worth anything."

Reviewer Dan Webber from the same issue in an article called "50 reasons why 'Jedi' sucks":

"Worst of all, there are two solid instances [in Return of the Jedi] where burbs are used for cheap laughs. Burps! And where are the fart jokes? Well, maybe in the next film."

Thats a terrifyingly clear vision of the future.

I wonder if a revision of the ROTJ novel is in order...

I think it will be out this fall. And the hands holding the lightsaber on the cover will be digitally – and awkwardly – replaced with Haydens.

How about scanning the POTA (Planet of the Apes) article too? I bought this magazine when it came out, just to read that article, but I lost it or something.

Nice article. I remember seeing that issue advertized in some old mag I have, probably in an Insider... always wondered what it said.

Always loved the cover, even though it's just a shot of the Falcon... that image became one of my first mind's eye glimpses of the Prequels.

And it's going to be about ewoks? Cool!

I had a magazine once, SciFi something (Wizard released it), and they were discussing the prequels and the sequels. I'll try and find it, but those were the days. No Jar Jar, no Hayden, and no fart jokes, only hope for what Lucas would do.

The caption accompanying the spirit pic on the last page is some nice foreshadowing.

If someone attempts to remake Star Wars, us fans would likely start a jihad against it's production.

Sure I could scan the Apes article. It's only that my scanner wont cooperate with my operating system right know.

I like the way in that article Lucas says "I have story treatments on all nine.".


Now he insists he never had a story for episodes 7, 8 and 9. I wonder what the truth is or was?!

uh he managed to make 4-9 into just 3 movies.

Well, Lucas did "lie" to Spielberg that he had concepts for three stories, when he presented him the idea of Indiana Jones. Maybe he even thought he did have, but later on they proved to be not very good rough sketches and Lucas had to invent new ones for the sequels to be made.

My point is, maybe Lucas did write some notes on the (Star Wars) sequel trilogy, but was never satisfied with them and doesn't consider them as a real story concept now.

Lucas has become fixated on appearing right about everything, all the time. I love the guy and his work, but he's a world-class fibber when it comes to his creative process, as if he's afraid of being thought of as a hack for not having the SW saga come into his head fully developed.
