Great spoiler Tern, but I gotta admit, I'm slightly confused as to why there's a distinction between Sidious and Palpatine, unless there's a transformation during the confrontation.

Palpatine disposes of the other Jedi pretty quickly. Are they that weak, or is he just that powerful? If he is, why does he have trouble with Mace?

We're getting so many conflicting reports about this scene, who knows.

The whole wink and shush move by Palpatine sounds cool though... not to mention Fisto's death.

Kit's death seems brutal and mocking of the Jedi at the same time.

So long, green bug-eyed guy!

secretly hides his saber in the sleeve of his robe.

Tern I asked you if he did that the other day and you didn't answer.

Thanks for confirming now. :)

Also, true or false? Palp turns into Sidious when he uses Sith Lightning. Is that basically it?

IMO is face is going to change because he's using too much dark side juice fighting Mace Windu. He won't be able to maintain his Palpatine identity anymore so he has to become Sidious full time ;)

Could someone clarify the stages in the change of appearance fron Palps to wrinkle-faced-Siddi. I pity Sidious, the most powerful guy in the galaxy with a face like a pruney foreskin. Is there no botox in the SW universe?

There must be more to Palp's "case" in the senate...

He doesn´t need anymore. Noone knows he is a Sith Lord, remember. He can pretty much say and do whatever he feels like. The Jedi are said to have ordered the clone army, so he can use this, combined with the attack on him, as a way to declare them traitors and enemies of the state.

To the Senate, the Jedi ordered the clone army in secret. To them, Palpatine is the only thing standing between the Jedi and total control over the army (since they seem to be regarded as the Generals in contol). They just got rid of one mad Jedi trying to destroy the Galaxy, now there's potentially a few dozen more ready to control the army.

So, exactly how does Palpatine kill Saesee and Agen? Lightning I imagine? But if so, how come the audio recording doesn't pick up the sound of it? Or maybe it does and Palps will just say it was the Jedi. Or, a third possibility, the Senators will have no freaking clue what they're listening to and Palps can say whatever he wants. Also, if it's lightning that does them in, how come they are killed by the lightning (and so quickly) when we know it didn't kill Anakin and it was taking a long time to kill Luke?

I wonder if Palps will manage to turn some sort of video device on again (or maybe it was already on) to capture his "surrender" and "rescue" by Anakin. If it was already on, Palps can easily just edit out the part where he's fighting back.

Oh, and one more thing. I thought one of the Jedi here was supposed to crash through the window and fall to his death? I didn't think it was Mace, but I guess it is? Or do Agen or Saesee go out this way?

i believe mace is fried and thrown out the window afetr anakin pretty much delivers the death blow. There are going to be so many cool scenes in this flick i dare say GL will have shut his critics up!

Am I the only one who thinks this scene is a bit over the top? Anakin seeing a head staring at him out the window sounds kind of out there, you know? I mean, the scene sounds cool & all that, but it doesn't seem "star wars".

Does that make any sense?

I guess this movie will do a lot to blow away our notions of what star wars is & isn't. [martha stewart]And that's a good thing(tm)[/martha stewart]

Wow, this scene actually sounds rather brutal. I can't wait to see the look on Mace's face when Palpatine takes out the first two Jedi.

"Mothafucka, are you outta yo damn mind?!"

It seem very plausible that Sids can move super fast and slice through them, maybe even so fast that the "recording device" cant pick it up... but if we asume its an audio recording then it doesnt matter how fast he moves.

We have seen jedi move super fast (quigon and obi running down the hall in episode I)
And we have also seen that using force powers like this does wear you out (Yoda using his cane, after his battle and pillar levitation)

So this could be an explination for how Mace gets the upper hand, because palps has worn himself out... however Id like to belive its just becase Mace is the second most powerful swordsman, next to anikan.

Im wondering if the transformation from palps to sid occurs during the "enough of this" line. I can just picture the emporer screaming like some huge beast transforming. It was said somewhere that palps gets pissed at mace and then makes the transformation.

I can't help but think... you know when audiences first saw Yoda fighting, they went berserk? People didn't agree whether it was cool or ridiculous or somewhere in between, but it was so fast and so outrageous that the theater became a zoo. At least that was my experience the first few times I saw AOTC. Audiences just lost it.

I wonder if Sidious's fighting is going to have the same effect. I mean, after all this time he's finally cutting loose. And not only is he a whirling vortex of death, but Kit Fisto's head lands on his desk and stares out at the window at Anakin (almost certainly not smiling). Tell me this scene isn't going to make some raucus audiences. I foresee noisy theaters.

Speaking of Sidiou being a "whirling vortex of death" - I really hope we get a good feel for his fighting style rather than Yoda's OTT bounce around style. I hope the choreography is perfect because it will need to be to get across his skill while still allowing the audience to see exactly what he is doing.

Dogg.

I have faith in Nick Gillard, he hasn't left me hanging as an SW fan yet. All of his fights in the PT have been pretty fucking amazing to watch so I sincerely doubt he'll let us down in the Sidious/Mace fight.

Right on. I saw AOTC 3 times over the course of a month in the cinema, and Yoda got major applause and cheers every time. I see Sidious having a similar affect, in part because there are still people out there(normal people who don't visit Star Wars websites) who have NO CLUE that Palpatine is the bad ass who would be Emperor.

I doubt it. Most audiences seem to have a loving connection with Yoda. So that moment when it became clear that Yoda was going to take it to Dooku was quite unique.

Most people don't really seem to have such a connection with Palpatine.

True, but I'm betting there will be a major reaction of some kind from those in the audience who haven't put 2 & 2 together yet.

I just wanted to point something out that I noticed, guys. Remember the leaked Back in Black footage? Well, the scene where you see light hitting Anakin's face and his hair being blown back...I believe this is the point where Sidious fries Mace!

If you look closely at the scene, the lighting is clearly from force lighthning and Anakin is also looking down at something on the ground. Therefore, I really think Mace is fried by Palpatine before Anakin's very eyes.

Tern...post a little smiley if I'm right. lol

Speak for yourself, Yoda sucks and all his scenes are boring, Palpatine's always been the man and without his character there would be no Star Wars. I'll be in my Sith cloak waving a Sidious flag and cheering when his saber lights up.

Big Lou, spoken like a true fan of the saga.

It gets tiresome to keep hearing these "fans" who seem to think that rejecting great pivotal characters of the complete story who we have come to admire for one who is evil is just crap.

To me when I read this it just screams immaturity. "Oh, I'm going to pick the bad guy so I can be different & cool."

They just don't realize that no one cares because every fan has his or her own opinions & their own favorite characters, but slandering the great Jedi master Yoda is just not cool.

I'd just like to point out that nothing I said was personal opinion, so I was not "speaking for myself." You might want to put away your Sidious love-doll and go take a class in reading comprehension.
