People need a fucking enima, everyone is so spastic and on edge right now I honestly don't know if some of you could handle it if say Ebert came out with a review saying it was the worst piece of horseshit he's ever seen.

It's going to be like this for another 2 weeks, pace yourselves.

I saw Attack of the Clones projected digitally about 5 times. I saw it another 5 times on film. I have friends who can get me in free, so I abused it. Anyways, I saw the 7 minute video clip at Celebration, the one that was camcorder’d and available here. Now you're probably wondering what my point is. My point is that the effects, CGI, and overall look have improved like nothing I have ever seen before.

The CGI wasn't on par with Attack of the Clones in those clips. It was an honest to God, four times more intense and real. They have some new process for depth of field or whatever. Either way, the CGI is better. This makes me doubt the authenticity of that guys review or gives weight to the fact that he really wanted to hate this movie and that the ticket was wasted on a dork like him.

Don't get me wrong though. People are going to hate this film with the same intensity as the previous films and the Special Edition changes. I don’t care if people like or dislike anything. However, some people get upset about negative reviews and cry that the sky is falling. I’m just trying to assure you that this guy must be more of an audio person then a visual person. Because I can guarantee you that he is wrong on those accounts. That is not a preferential opinion, it’s a technical fact.

Be wary of reviews that are all glowing. The same goes for reviews that are gloating. This film is going to have failures and achievements. There is not a perfect Star Wars film, and I don’t expect the sixth to be any different.

Quit being so forum-conscious. Read and respond to what you like, and simply ignore the rest.

I just have little faith that many people at TFN or here will believe there is honesty in bad reviews, even if there is.

I can't say I really value comic book-fans' opinions on stuff. I realize it is being an asshole, but everyone who I have met in my life who is a big comic sheep is a person who needs to have their ass kicked.

I also don't really value people who hated the first two's opinions on this movie, either - for two reasons. The first being it is not a viewpoint I share and the second being most people can't legitimately come up with their own reasons to hate the prequels.

Just like many people will refuse to believe there is honesty in good reviews. Just read some of the reactions to Kevin Smith's thoughts on the movie. What's your point?

He did the exact same thing with Phantom as well. Other than taking it to task for its bad dialogue, he praised it (even said Jar Jar was hilarious!) highly. Also, he gave a mixed review to The Matrix but at the end of the year, he was claiming that The Matrix was the film we all wished Episode I would be.

Another hilarious thing is that in the week leading up to Episode II's release, A & E devoted a week of biographies to Star Wars related people and during Lucas', Peter Travers (for whatever reason) is interviewed and he defends Phantom Menace. However, literally a few days later or so (maybe even the next day), his review for Episode II comes out (and again, is largely positive, except for slamming its bad dialogue), and he spends a good part of his review mercilessly trashing Episode I.

Does anyone know how some of these peoples are seeing it ahead of time? (IE Corliss and the CNN dude) And or when the full press screenings really are?

I am looking forward to some real reviews being released tomorrow. I have no doubt that at least 95% of the fan reviews are fake. It just sounds like the rantings of the same flamers who have been trolling around the Internet for years trying to write positive sounding reviews that take shots at things that no professional reviewer has pointed out, yet.

Hell, so far the people we KNOW have seen the movie have praised it big time.

The new Star Wars film is a "bloodbath" which deserves its parental guidance PG-13 rating, a critic has said after an early screening of the movie.

Revenge of the Sith is the first Star Wars movie to receive a cautionary PG-13 rating in the US.

Associated Press writer David Germain described its action as "relentless".

"It includes sequences more dark and disturbing than anything previously seen in the tragic Skywalker soap opera," he said.

'Gruesomely mutilated'

Mr Germain was among reporters who attended a screening of the movie at director George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch home near San Francisco on Tuesday.

"Young Jedi knight Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) completes his transformation into black-hearted villain Darth Vader with a bloodbath against old allies," he said.

"His surgical reclamation as the part-flesh, part-machine Vader is chillingly juxtaposed against the bleak childbirth scene of his wife, Padme Amidala (Natalie Portman), whose twins grow up to be heroes of the original Star Wars trilogy, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia."

The movie has been given a PG-13 rating due to its "sci-fi violence and some intense images", which warns parents that it could be inappropriate for viewers younger than 13.

Children under 13 can still attend the movie in the US if they are accompanied by an adult, however.

Lucas said he was getting "a lot of flak" from parents concerned about the film's US rating.

"A lot of people saying how can you do this? My children love these movies. Why can you not let them go see it?" he said.

"But I have to tell a story. I'm not making these, oddly enough, to be giant, successful blockbusters. I'm making them because I'm telling a story, and I have to tell the story I intended."

true, but CNN is in the ratings game and they can pull in more viewers by broadcasting the opinions of people who are more-or-less like ourselves, namely they can spout off at the mouth about whatever is on their minds. i guess it makes the viewers feel empowered.

The force is back, but for the final installment in the nearly 30-year-old "Star Wars" saga it is the dark side that comes to dominate.

Director George Lucas on Wednesday gave reporters their first look at "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith," in which fans around the world will see young Anakin Skywalker don the black battle mask of menacing Darth Vader as he is lured to evil.

The fate of the one-time aspiring Jedi Knight trained by master Obi-Wan Kenobi is already universally known, but the details of his transformation to the dark side are what fans want to know.

Lucas told reporters he envisioned the first three films, which began with "Star Wars" in 1977, as rousing entertainment about the children of Anakin and Senator Padme Amidala -- Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa.

The final three films that began with "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" in 1999, tell the parents' more conflicted tale. "I knew this would be a more mature look at the story," Lucas said.

After Anakin (Hayden Christensen) and Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor) face down their rival Count Dooku, they learn more evil is afoot in the galactic Republic, which is taken over by Chancellor, soon-to-be-Emperor, Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid).

Skywalker is allied with Palpatine, which upsets the Jedis because they believe the chancellor is trying to grab power by controlling the Republic's Senate. The senior member of the Jedi Council, Mace Windu, tries to undermine Palpatine, but his purposes are unclear to Anakin and equally suspicious.

These two competing forces -- Palpatine and the Jedis -- coupled with premonitions that Anakin's loving wife Amidala will soon die during childbirth, weigh heavily on the young space warrior.

'FUN GOING TO THE DARK SIDE'

Christensen said Anakin's personal journey from happy-go-lucky hero to concerned husband and finally treasonous soldier gave him a wide range.

"This is where you see Anakin undergo change," the actor said, adding with a grin, "I had a lot of fun going to the dark side."

But Anakin's evil-doing, coupled with the fact that the most recent "Star Wars" films met with criticism from reviewers and older fans, has raised the specter that "Revenge of the Sith" may not draw the legions to box offices that the earlier movies did.

Overall, the five "Star Wars" movies have generated nearly $3.5 billion in global ticket sales. "Phantom Menace" raked in just under $926 million to lead the group, but 2002's "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" fell to $648 million.

Producer Rick McCallum thinks the final film, which cost Lucas' movie company $113 million to make, will bring out all its fans.


Audiences who grew up with the first "Star Wars" movies want to know how Darth Vader came to father their hero. Younger moviegoers crave an understanding of how their idol Anakin could be lured to the dark side.

Both groups get more light-saber duels, epic space battles and wild-looking aliens than they could imagine. "I do believe the film will satisfy both audiences," McCallum said.

After "Revenge of the Sith," Lucas has vowed to go back to his roots to make smaller, more artistic films although he is not saying exactly what those projects are.

"I don't know what it is," he said. "I'm not there yet."

"Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" premieres in several U.S. cities on May 12, then begins a series of European debuts starting at the Cannes film festival on May 15. It begins playing for audiences in theaters worldwide starting on May 19.

Basically I'd tell parents that if their kid could handle LOTR, they can easily handle ROTS. They are worthwhile films as long as the kid can handle a lil darkness. ROTS probly has some good things to say about power, the need for power, etc. in the same way LOTR did.

That sounds a like semi-positive review from someone who really dislikes Star Wars in general. Kevin Smith's "He Man" comment is apropos, here. Everyone tries to show how great and "with it" they are by dissing Star Wars.

It's weird. Some say the reason for turning to the dark side is convincing, others not. Some say HC is great, others not. Some complain about the acting, some say its spot on. Grievous is a pussy, Grievous is a badass.

What I wouldn't give for some consistency. And some better reasoned reviews wouldn't hurt, either.

allow me to second that... I think Episodes I and II have plenty in them to like and I enjoy watching them.

Yeah, I love it when you tell someone that you like Episodes I and II and then they say, "I think they sucked, fuck Jar Jar, fuck Jake Lloyd, bad love story...yada yada."

Then they look at you like you're supposed to be impressed by their dislike.

I was watching my local news station right now and the reporter reviewed Episode 3 along with LOTS of footage of the movie and some interview clips of GL and Rick McCallum saying that they wouldn't bring young children to see it. The reviewer, who is George Pinachio I believe from ABC channel 7 here in California said it was darker, scarier and a whole lot of fun, an end to the saga with an exclamation point. They showed a lot of footage I didn't think they would, they showed Sidious backed against a wall shooting lightning at Mace who deflected it with his saber and you could hear Sidious saying something like "no you will die" or something like that it was really cool. They showed some new duel footage I hadn't seen before either, well it was parts we have seen, like on the making of, but this time it had the finished backgrounds around it. They also showed a tiny bit of new space battle footage I hadn't seen. I seriously can't wait for this movie after seeing that new footage.

That dvdfuture review is the one I've seen that doesn't seem to have been writted by a drooling retard. Hopefully some more critics will post theirs soon.

Decent review...not so sure what is wrong with Anakin calling Padme "my love". Also, the romance scenes in AOTC, I'm not sure how they became described as vomit inducing, personally, I think they were decently written.

History's already judged Star Wars. The original Star Wars changed filmmaking, visual effects, licensing, theatrical presentation, and entered the public lexicon as a cultural storytelling phenomenon.

From my personal and ultimately irrelevent view, ten years from now, twenty, thirty... I'll break out all six movies and watch them in some sort of clever order during the week, or on a weekend. Few movies made in the past twenty years will be watched by me that long from now, and none of them are science fiction.

There are hundreds of better movies, but hardly any more significant.

Scott Chitwood. You can tell the guy is not a movie critic, I think his review is pretty poorly written, in fact, I'll just say I think this guy is most likely an idiot in real life. He wrote it is "probably" the best prequel, not once, but twice...that's just bad writing. If I wrote "____ is probably the best book written by ____" in an english class I'd likely get expelled for idiocy. But anyway....


Once again, it was a pretty positive review.

Last night after watching the primetime American Idol expose. My local news station KGO-7 (The news station for anyone living in the SF Bay Area) had one of their reporters "Don Sanchez" attend the press screening at Sky Walker ranch.l

His exact words were "Lucas has nailed it, this is the best starwars movie out of the six" he was litteraly beside himself, gleefully telling us over and over how awesome the movie was. He said the first 25 minutes of the film are incredible. He could barely finish a sentence, because he was so over joyed by what he saw.

And this was the same media outlet (KGO-7) who ripped the first two prequels to shreds. And Don Sanchez is far from a fanboi. He's like 50 something years old, your typical tight ass news achor. So If he enjoyed it I'm sure we'll enjoy it as well. I know this isn't a elaborate review but none-the-less it was very positive. Not the intial recations we were getting after the first 2 flops.

That man is truly a waste of life.
