That's complete BS. Do you think Lucas and Williams are that stupid?

The choice to use the TF theme over the Imperial March is an obvious cinematic one. Save the dramatic theme of the Empire for the end scene, when they have become an agent of evil in a Republic turning into an Empire, aka, don't prematurely shoot your load on some montage sequence in which the average audience member has no idea that these clone troopers are soon going to be working for an Empire.

There were plenty of actual soundtrack fuck ups in AOTC, however. This is not one of them. The biggest in my mind is the music during the end battle. They had a chance to go epic, and instead, the scene just comes off as another cool action scene and not all too dramatic. Playing music from TPM only reminds the audience of the tone of TPM. Huge mistake. If they do something this stupid in ROTS I'll go ahead and claim now that I'll walk out (claim, I won't actually do it, obviously, it's an empty threat).

That's really stupid. They say on the AotC commentary that the TF theme is used as a red herring.. I take it as, at this time in the movie the good guys and bad guys are still distinctly seperated, and Obi-wan sees a bad guy army , so they play the bad guy army music from TPM. You don't fully understand that this is the Jedi's army, and that the Jedi will actually use it-- which they might not have-- until Yoda shows up with the Clones at the arena, at which point the music is different. Using the stormtrooper theme from ANH or a varient of it would have been the real mistake, because at that point the Stprmtroopers ARE working for the bad guys, and in AotC they're working for the Jedi. The switch comes with Order 66.. All these decisions need to be evaluated from the viewpoint of somebody watching the saga for the first time chronologically, who has never seen the OT, because in the end that's how Lucas is looking at it.

They said it was the first overtly romantic theme in a Star Wars movie.

The Han & Leia motif in ESB is also a "love theme" of sorts, but it's not an all-out "we're in love and we're gonna go make babies" song.

Haha, word. Yeah, I beleive the exact quote from Williams was something like, "this is the first and only baby-making track in all of Star Wars", wasn't it?

I think I've been duped yet again. Found this on another star wars message board:

Quote:
Duel Of The Fates will be reprised in the midst of the Obi Wan VS. Anakin duel, as will the Jedi theme with chorus this time, The Imperial march and Yoda's theme.

The Anakin/Padme love theme sadly plays as him and her confront each other and is abruptly cut off by horns and strings upon Anakin's force choke.

As for The Immolation Scene it is mostly The Emperor's theme played softly and ominously with snippets of new material that is unrecognizable thrown in. Lots of percussion though.

Most of the soundtrack is already on Kazaa. Do a search for "Sie Haben Meine Sith Gestolen 2005." As it was a german who posted it originally. It translates to "You stole the Sith". Beware the quality is poor and scratchy and was obviously done with a hand recorder.

Well I downloaded that crappy Kazaa, infested my computer with that crappy spyware, but of course, got no love. In my geeky excitement I was blinded by the fact that this guy was full of shit.

Where's the fun in that?

If I don't waste my time scouring the internet for the leaked soundtrack, I'd have to do useful things, like do my homework, or *gasp*. go to class. :whatevaho:

I liked the the small cue when Leia instucted the rebel pilots. It has a strong military urgent beat that I think the prequel trilogy is missing. Wouldn't something like that go great with a lined squad of Clone Troopers prepping for battle?

yeah that cue was beautiful. I remember hearing it all the time in the Rogue Leader game too.

EpIII will hopefully contain such pieces :heavymetal:

Congrats to everyone for getting this baby online. For me the music, is such an important part of the film. When i first saw the final sequences of AOTC with the Clone Troopers all loading up, i got amazing goosebumpbs, but not because of the scene, but because of the way that the Imperial March was worked into it. Man, that's still the best scene from that film. Well anyways......I don't see why people are getting into a fuss over the sample not neccessarily sounding like the old Star Wars stuff. The TPM soundtrack sounded nothing at all like the rest of Star Wars, but fitted with the film perfectly, I really like this sample, and it sounds like another excellent example of John Williams using his music to subtly reflect the mood of a scene rather than hit us over the head with random music. I say it's amazing.....good job and can't wait for the soundtrack to come out.

Oh, and love Across the Stars

The Yoda cue in ESB isn't really that off, in my opinion.

It could certainly imply that Luke is using some skills that Yoda taught.

But it's not played over Luke. It's played while Lando, Leia, Chewie, Threepio and Artoo are escaping Bespin. I have no doubt it was originally scored to a scene with Luke, but it ain't there no more.

That's my mistake then. Could have swore that it played during the part when Luke is dodging the laser fire and stuff from around the corners.

So the OS has still only one lousy preview track. Thats just weak. One would assume that they will maybe add a new one every week? Hopefully...
