SPOILER- FREE REACTION OF #THEMANDALORIAN SEASON 1 FINALE:

‪OMG! That season 1 finale of #TheMandalorian was great! Gave us some answers along with big teases of what’s to come in Season 2 & gave us a big ending that fans of #TheCloneWars & #StarWarsRebels will go nuts over.
Taika Waititi delivered.
My score: another 10 or 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️‬

That was astounding! I felt like l did not watch The Mandalorian - but rather experienced it. So much comes to mind but after watching it twice this morning, had to step away and go clear my head. It was that good.

This show gives me what need from my Star Wars and it's clear to me now that there are two different camps within Lucasfilm that are creating Star Wars content. The Mandalorian (and Jedi Fallen Order) are very much in line, with old/proper Lucas era Star Wars, whereas the sequels seem like they're created for a mass audience that's not into the lore and minutiae, of the Star Wars universe. Bring on Season two!

This was NOT the ending that I had been looking for. Pretty weak episode. It had a very odd sense of humor to it, that was out of place half of the time.

The main villain gave, literally, the longest monologue in all of recorded history.
This totally neutered him from feeling "threatening."
And he gives them "till nightfall" to make up their mind? lol

The quieter the villain, the deadlier they are.
Ask Vader.
This one chatters away endlessly.

He certainly doesn't seem to be skilled enough to have earned the blade.
And he can't hit shit with his TIE Fighter.
WTH?

And virtually all of the Mando's were killed by the Imperial forces?
Don't make laugh!
The same forces we saw here slaughtered all of those Mando's?

No frickin' way.
Just... Ugh!

Disney's got to even out the quality of each episode.
This one felt very rushed.
Probably needed the extra time to do all of the special effects of all of the Imps' blaster bolts missing everything and everywhere.

Hey! THAT's how they slaughtered all of those Mando's.
They DIDN'T aim for them, and accidentally massacred them instead!

Gahhhh. This season finale SUCKED.

You know, @kyle, instead of being such a cynical assh-le, can u at least say if you liked ANYTHING about this episode finale like

The Armorer taking down all those stormtroopers with one of their helmets being smashed from the bottom,
or the astromech droid with legs or Carl Weathers asking Baby Yoda for magic hands only for him to not understand,
or the fact that the Death Watch save Din Djarin as a kid from the Separatists,

which might have been a result of the failed alliance to take back Mandalore between them and Dooku in Season 2 of The Clone Wars (even though I think this flashback takes place between Season 4 and 5 of The Clone Wars since the Droid Gunship was introduced in Season 5 of The Clone Wars)?

It was a solid episode but I didn't think it was anything mind-blowing.

The Biker Scout banter at the beginning cringe worthy. It was really not necessary, more of a opportunity for Taika Waititi to indulge in his brand of humor. People criticize Lucas for his dialogue and script writing but there's something to be said about dialogue that fits the Star Wars style. I don't think these writers and directors have a grasp on that yet. Also the bit where the Scouts try shooting the scrap on the ground and both miss was another eye roller. Yes we know, the joke about Stormtroopers is they can't hit anything but it becomes too much of a 4th wall breaking, meta type wink-wink at the audience when you keep referencing it. Besides Stormtroopers are the bad guys! If they could hit the good guys there wouldn't be much of a story to anything. That is just the way of things.

The Imperials already had the baby, why didn't they just inform Gideon directly? It kinda makes the whole premise of the episode a bit pointless.

While I may not have been blown away overall by the finale I cannot deny it had many geek out moments, the reveal of Moff Gideon with the darksaber was definitely the biggest jaw dropper.

Overall, The Mandalorian has been good at developing characters. It’s been good at some of the world building elements... but boy do they need to improve the plotting/storyline. Given that the show looks like it’s a success, I’m hoping they’ve now had the opportunity to actually develop an overarching story for season 2, rather than this meandering plodding style of this season. If they get that right, it could be great. As it stands it’s a ‘must try harder’ end of year rating for me.

I'm here to give everyone a break fro the sideshow.

The darksaber is a perfect example of quality world-building. It's introduction here gives Moff Gideon a whole new level of credibility and threat level as a villain. Him standing in front of the troopers talking is only meant as an introduction. I can easily see him being the antagonist of season 2, making the stakes a bit higher than a random group of stormtroopers, as representation of the Empire.

Overall, it was a surprising, compelling and well-crafted story. I expect nothing less from Dave Filoni, and Jon Favreau has also earned my trust as a Star Wars storyteller. It sure is nice to see a piece of Star Wars so loved and accepted by so many after so many years of pointless and baseless division.

Possible Season 2 inclusions:

Jedi
Sabine Wren
Bo Katarn
Yoda species
Flashbacks inc Mando training
The Purge

I wonder if we will get more than 8 episodes?

I'm hoping for Hutts, more New Republic scenes, maybe a new Ewok episode or Bespin. What if we got a Harrison Ford cameo ??!!

I think with only being about 4 hours into a story like this, that the introductions are done and it is time to really start developing the conflict between Moff Gideon and Din Djarin.

Loved the whole ride, & my kids even more so. This finale was a welcome balm, & a load of fun. The ties to Clone Wars lore made it feel like coming home.

I'll be fascinated to see if any true links are established between The Mandalorian and the forthcoming Season 7 of Clone Wars.

Moff Gideon had to have acquired the Darksaber from Bo Katan, right? Wasn't she the last to possess it in the last season of Rebels?

So cool to see Gideon cut his way out and stand atop his fighter. What an intro for the sword!
But is IG really dead this time? Kuill too?
Do you really think we will/ do you really want to see yoda planet?

Yes Sabine gives Bo-Katarn the darksabre in Rebels season 4 and that's the last we see of it. Moff Gideon could potentially play a big part in The Purge.

I'm hoping Bo-Katarn shows up in the Mando season 2
