According to sources, more than 2,500 actors have met on the project or put themselves on tape, with casting director Jeanne McCarthy running point on finding the man to fill the vest made famous by Harrison Ford in the first Star Wars trilogy and The Force Awakens, which opens Dec. 18.

The contenders are being whittled down before Star Wars spinoff directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who worked with McCarthy on the hit Jump Street films, hone in on their Han. The movie isn't due to shoot until January 2017 for a May 25, 2018, release, so they have plenty of time to make a choice.

Very interesting.

From that list, I like Jack Reynor the best. He looks the part and has the chops.

The one on the left and the one in the middle could pass as a younger Ford.

Anthony Ingruber would be the obvious choice as he's virtually a clone. Plus he's played a younger version in that Blake Lively picture.

Mr Reynor looks like a Jock Crispin Glover.

It's all about the attitude. They have to look the part to a certain extent, but at the end of the day, it's more important that they act like Han Solo. Reynor's got the chops to pull it off. Check out his movies.

Maybe the others have what it takes too. I don't know. I just know that Reynor would make a fantastic young Solo, and I stand by that.

Anthony Ingruber is a dead ringer, though. I'll give you that.

I'd imagine the Reynor would more than likely do a good job in the role. You're certainly right about
the vibe.

Ewan Mcgregor looks nothing like Alec Guinness but he still aced it for the most part.

I'm just a stickler for a certain measure of authenticity.

Unbreakable, the actor playing the younger Bruce Willis looked eerily legit.

Yet Deniro playing Vito Corleone doesn't look like Brando and he got best supporting for his efforts.

Casting a young Solo, the actor's going to have to be someone with a
good sense of timing to match Fords insouciance without appearing smug.
