See my above response about which captioning you prefer. I don't think I have seen Guiness saying "afraid" as a question. I do remember Yoda asking, "Afraid, are you?" in Empire, though.

the voice has a certain inflection. When Alec says afraid, his accent (voices sound different from different parts of the world) makes the middle section of the word "afraid" raise in pitch... once they edited just the middle portion, I can see how it would sound like a question. Off the top of my head, I think its from the scene where luke is out and Obi says "dont be afraid" to R2 hiding in the rocks.

I have never paid attention to CC. In my line of work, i dont want anyone to tell me what they think someone is saying. It creates a bias in my mind and i could hear things that arent there. I am told to create a report of what I can distinguish from questionable audio, clean the audio so that others can hear what the report states, sometimes I have a second or third opinion as to verify my findings.

You might be right about the scene from ANH. I can't get over the fact that Lucas had a bunch of fake rocks added to in which otherwise was a great scene that conveyed suspense, though.

Side note, semi-related question: Were you born deaf? Or have you lost your hearing? I'm only asking because I work in accessibility. A lot of our audience are people who have lost their vision/hearing or are impaired as opposed to strictly deaf/blind. We don't get a lot of feedback from our viewers. Wanted to hear from you.

Then can you please tell your superiors that the captioning needs work so future releases will look better. I'm only suggesting because I'm sure TFA will see a remaster in the future. White on white backgrounds doesn't go together well as evidenced in the Bespin corridor portion of the scene.

Yes, I was born deaf. I guess a lot of deaf people don't know where to send their feedback. Have you considered setting up a sort of an official feedback program? Maybe at least a test program where a select few deaf people from different backgrounds of life can sign up to test the subtitles to ensure they look good before a disc is sent to manufacturing? They would have to sign a NDA of course but it would improve accessibility on future Disney/Marvel/Lucasfilm releases, imo.

All that drama over Rey's vision and what it meant for her lineage rendered some of the members here to be part of the Stupid.

This site is a haven for some of the Stupid. I don't know if is any better considering how the fanbase has been diluted to the point where nobody understands what it's like to be a SW fan these days.
