George Lucas came to the Museum of Television and Radio’s William S. Paley Festival Saturday night. The first 90 minutes of the two-hour event were devoted to “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles” and Lucas’ efforts to bring that series to DVD with accompanying documentaries and study guides.

SUMMARY:

THE LIVE-ACTION SERIES

• On the Live-Action Star Wars series, Lucas said that project was still “years away.”

• “It’s one show that splits up into four shows,” he said, “and each show will deal with a different character.”

THE CLONE WARS CGI

• Lucas described the Cartoon Network’s earlier series of Clone Wars shorts as “a test.”

• Clone Wars The Series would “create the ambiance of the movies in cartoon form”, “nothing on TV quite like it.” with the objective to “create a pretty good adventure, breaking all the rules”, according to Lucas

• The upcoming animated series were described as “episodic.” Lucas said: “There could be some episodes that have nothing but Clone Warriors in them.”

• 100 episodes of the animated Clone Wars series would be produced “then make a deal to show them.”

• Lucas also suggested that a “second animated series” might be produced before he got around to the live-action series.

LUCAS FUTURE

• "For me, the future is TV,” Lucas told the Paley crowd. With features, he said, “the odds are so great, the risk is so high. I just want to have a good time.”

Seems like George and the rest of the LFL are getting their messages crossed again. When they previously spoke of the 100 episode plan it was in relation to the live action show. This all points to my theory that there's no real work being done on the live action show at this point in time.

Seems like, understandably, Indy is George's priority for now.

Second Cartoon series now? 100 episodes of both the live action and cartoon series that's a lot of Star Wars coming down the pipe.

For the life of me, I fail to understand what the big deal about Young Indiana Jones on DVD.

When I went to Celebration III, waited in line for 7000 hours in the ice and rain to see him, everyone wanted to ask about Young Indiana Jones. Sorry to all the Indy Fans...but come on, the series wasn't that good.

Clone Wars: The Series was first described by Steve Sansweet at Comic Con 2005 as focusing on a single character or charaters not unlike Band of Brothers as first reported in this MF Thread.

I would prefer the Live-Action Series over another second animated series to be honest.

TheForce.net has a report also with some new info:

• “the future is in television.” Lucas is concentrating on an animated series and live action series, not features.

• Lucas is trying to recreate the ambiance of a SW film in cartoon form – “there won’t be anything on TV like it” – it’ll be “smart ass comedy with contemporary humor.”

• Some episodes are just about clonetroopers, another features as the main character Kit Fisto. Lucas is going to make 100 episodes, doesn’t have a network yet.

• Live-Action Series is still a few years away, no character decisions have been cast in stone. Lucas said each show will be a different character.

Also IESB.net by way of TheForce.net

• In the animated series, Osoka is a new character, young female padawan
• Young Boba Fett possible
• Over 100 shows?!

I think an anthology cartoon (or live action) show with post-ROTJ stuff might be cool. Luke rebuilding the Jedi Order and making the transition from wartime rebel to peacetime Jedi Master could be good. Quelling occasional problems here and there, dealing with the occasional Imperial leftover warlord (imho, such a series should disregard all previous post-ROTJ novels, but hey).

There's no reason why they couldn't set this other Animated Series in between ANH and TESB.
