Nice episode. The plot of this ep kinda reminded me a bit of Kurosawa's "Stray Dog" film wherein a rookie cop's gun is stolen and is subsequently used by the thief to commit murder. Something which Ahsoka also feared her weapon might be used for as well.

I liked the Tera Sinube character, very wise and a with playful sense of humor too.

I also really liked the smokey, dingy and run down atmosphere of the seedy Coruscant lower depths. I wish the similar scenes of the chase and nightclub scenes in AOTC had had that similar look and feel.

Mandalorians next week. Can't wait!

Good catch, TC. First we have a Hitchcock tribute episode and now one for Kurosawa.

Oddly enough, the preview clip seemed like a 24 episode with Obi-wan playing the part of Jack Bauer.

I wonder when we will find out the identity of the “familiar” actor who is providing Pre Vizsla’s voice?

Thanks to everyone for sharing the links, another fantastic episode - beautifully crafted.
It's amazing what they can accomplish within a 22 minute episode, it's like a mini movie once a week.

Excellent episode. And the giant Palpatine screen was a very nice touch.

Thanks for the uploads, once again.

I really liked this episode. Such excellent direction and pacing. The Sith Witch design was a great touch. So many of these settings and action pieces would have been great for the films - especially a train heist. I also loved the Jedi Master...classic slow but steady wise elder archetype.

Without a doubt this is the most carefully crafted show on television.

I swear there was a shot, just before the bounty hunter jumps, that was supposed to emulate that "first" pic of the prequels we got way back when. It was supposed to be a luxury liner or some such docked at an outdoor station on Coruscant. I'll have to rewatch the episode and see if I was just seeing things.

EDIT:
Yup. I was just seeing things.

Thanks for the episode, especially HD version ! I think this was one of the best episodes of all series. It was really fast paced, well-written and full of surprises. It was nice to see a bit of Coruscant as well - the train bits were really cool (the model of the train was particulary great).

The mandalorian saga is probably what the PT should have focussed on. At least part of that arc would have made a more involving storyline.

Seeing a Mandalorian with a lightsaber reminds me of another popular prequel rumor / nerd pipe dream. Cinescape claimed that there would be large Braveheart-type battle between countless Jedi and Mandalorians during the Clone Wars. I wonder if this black lightsaber is the first step toward the realization of such a sequence.

It’s funny how Jango Fett and the Death Watch ended-up resembling Cinescape's photoshopped Mandalorian image from 1997.

Favreau seems to be the right match for Vizsla. He shouldn’t worry about his New York accent as Jason Wintergreen was born in Brooklyn.

Personally, I’m more interested in learning about Obi-wan’s past then I am about the Death Watch. (Maybe Satine will refer to him as Ben during one of the episodes?)

It’s not any more corny than Reel Two Dialogue Two. It’s just more obvious.

The episode has been penned by “Senate Spy” writer Melinda Hsu Taylor. Considering that “The Mandalore Plot” is the flipsdie to that episode, it is appropriate to have the same writer.

Hsu is also a Lost producer and sometimes writer. She wrote the Ewok-hating episode “Some like it Hoth".

For the record, the Ewoks didn't suck. :wookiee:

I've never seen that Cinescape cover before, does that pre-date AOTC? I mean is it possible that it influenced the design for Jango's armour cos it's pretty spot on for a (I think?) pre-TPM magazine release.

It's highly likely that the Mandalorian mock-up was the inspiration for Jango Fett’s final look.

In summer 1998, Cinescape released an all Episode 1 issue (Cinescape Insider #4). The issued rehashed the same information which had been discussed in its parent magazine. The Mandalorian cover photo appeared in a much smaller form on page 19 within the issue.

If you watch the documentary "The Beginning: Making Star Wars Episode I", you can see a portion of the cover for the Episode #1 issue. A clipping of the cover’s headline “Star Wars: Episode One Secrets Revealed!” is posted on a door in ILM. (See below for photo evidence. A link to the segment of the documentary is also below. Tthe cutout appears at the 1 minute 40 second mark).

So, we have evidence that Cinescape Mandalorian photograph was in ILM during the summer of 1998.

Originally, Jango Fett’s outfit was to be all-white, like the original design for Boba Fett. However, Lucas decided that he liked the unpolished armour better. So, when Doug Chiang's set out to finalize the stainless steel look for Jango, he either consciously or unconsciously drew upon the Cinescape mock-up for inspiration.
