Please don't take this to mean I'm not a fan or anything like that - but I am so glad the last arc is over. Don't know if I could have endure any more of that ... lol.

I'm sure those episodes will grow on me with time, but for now that is over - tonight's episode looks promising, as do the episodes coming in the next few weeks.

I agree. It's good to be back to normal. I'll have to see this tomorrow morning, though. It's over 2 a.m here.

Bravo. Tarkin was characteristically perfect and I hope he replaces Yularen as a recurring character on the show. This episode brought back the classic Star Wars sense of adventure.

Secrets Revealed

• Osi Sobeck is a Phindian, an alien species that originated in the Expanded Universe, specifically the Jedi Apprentice series published by Scholastic, Inc. The species was first pictured in The Essential Guide to Aliens Species, published by Del Rey Books in 2001. Osi's design hews closely to the art by R.K. Post.

• For James Arnold Taylor's characterization of Osi Sobeck, he performed the dialogue with pauses and inflection inspired by Christopher Walken's distinctive speech patterns.

• Ashley Eckstein, who ordinarily voices Ahsoka Tano, joins James Arnold Taylor, Matt Lanter, Tom Kane, Corey Burton, Cara Pifko, Phil LaMarr, and Gary Scheppke as the voice of a tactical droid. The droid, K2-B4, has been colored to match the Lola Sayu environment: purple and yellow.

• K2-B4's colors also work well as the droid's name is a nod to crewmembers who are fans of the Los Angeles Lakers. When K2-B4's animation model was created, the Lakers won the championship. Kobe Bryant's number 24 translates to K2-B4.

• The texture of the exterior Citadel walls is meant to be visually reminiscent of the Death Star surface when seen from afar.

• During Season One, discussions about getting past droid scans led to Superising Director Dave Filoni and writer Henry Gilory developing the carbon-freezing tactic, though it never made it into an episode. Gilroy later used it in an Expanded Universe Clone Wars comic book story, The Shipyards of Doom. Its use in 'The Citadel' brings it to the screen.

• Some of the smallest asteroids seen orbiting Lola Sayu are re-textured rocks seen floating over Mortis or Iego.

• According to the screens in the Citadel orbital security stations, the Separatist shuttle that R2-D2 commands is an escort shuttle, class type B.

• Even Piell is a Jedi Master first seen in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Piell's short height and long ears caused many fans to speculate some sort of relation to Yoda (some called him "the pink Yoda"), but Piell is a distinct species: a Lannik. Though Even Piell is male, in the live action movie, he was portrayed by a woman: Michaela Cotrell.

Great point about Tarkin replacing Yularen as our "go-to admiral" for the remainder of the series. He was very well-done, both in animation style and in his voice work. Had some really nice nuances in that performance.

Really enjoyed the episode. Again, very well animated and I like what they are doing in the series stylistically. And it was interesting to see Max Zorin make it into the CW.

So what does everyone make of Anakin's line that the Citadel was designed in case any Jedi "lost their way"? Is it a common enough occurrence that they need to build a fortress for it?

Fun! That was just plain good old fashionned Star Wars adventure, reminds me of the best Season 1 moments which had this old school feel too, that's what first caught me in this series. Nice that they get back at something like this after going sooo far in the 2 previous arc. In both cases TCW team handle it so greatly. :chewbacca:

As you said, Tarkin was excellently done ... Damn this last exchange with Anakin WAS a Vader/Tarkin conversation for real! Matt Lanter did an amazing job too, he really sounded like vader at this moment.
Now can't wait to see more of those 2 and the rest! Even Piell aka The Russian was cool, just nice to have a new council member in there ... Also Ahsoka was :heavymetal:

Well, at least it gives time for Sky Movies to catch up.

And there's also another gap after this arc.

YES! This is how good the show used to be once! Loved Tarkin's introduction.

Even animation and editing were back to the high standards of the past.

Here is Star Wars: The Clone Wars in its
original aspect ratio of 2.35:1. Cartoon
Network in the US cuts off the edges to make
it 16:9 but Sky in the UK airs it in 2.35:1.

The TV x264 standards were set up when all TV
series were 16:9 and don't have any rules for
releases with other aspect ratios. That's why
we followed the movie standards which state:
For aspect ratio equal or above 1.78 horizontal
resolution must be 1280. e.g. AR of 2.35:1 will
                be 1280x544.

Subtitles are not burned in and can be enabled or disabled by your choice of media player. But if you're using anything other than Media Player Classic, you're doing it wrong. :schoolyou:

To be honest I try to not even think about how they brought Maul back. I'm afraid death in Star Wars will seem like a passing disease from this episode on.

As most of you are already aware - IMDB can be edited by anyone who is registered there so Savage Maul may not appear. Below is a description of Episode 22 Wookiee Hunt from SKY's article on the return of Chewbacca:

In the final two episodes, Padawan Lost and Wookie Hunt, Chewbacca will be joining forces with Ahsoka Tano in a storyline that sees our heroes do battle with a group of evil Trandoshans, the reptilian species of regular villain Bossk.

From the SKY article - the plot doesn't seem inclusive for a potential Zabrak appearance or Lil Boba & Separtist Friends for that matter.

This year, Lucasfilm has about a rate of 95% when it comes to spoilers. Neither Greedo, Maul, Tarkin, or Chewie were revealed to the public before Lucasfilm has chosen to do so. As such, I’m going to assume that (other than the Sky summary) nothing legitimate has leaked about the finale. The only real “secret” to be revealed early this year was Quinlan Vos; and that got out through Hasbro.

I doubt the title hasn't been decided. I'm going to guess that it reveals something important about the plot. Maybe Domino Squad finally gets finished off?

If you mean "finished off" as in death, then it would be a waste. We first saw them in the episode "Rookies" back in season 1, got to see their past in season 3, 2 from the surviving squad get promoted to the title of an ARC Trooper, and we saw them in last week's episode. I don't think they'll bite the dust any time soon. It would be pretty shocking to seem them get killed off at the end of the arc, but it must be in an epic fashion :heavymetal:

The use of the term 'To Be Determined' was meant by us not finding it out yet. Hopefully it's omission from various schedules does mean it's revelatory.

Since this series still employs people, there isn't going to be a lot of stuff getting out that shouldn't be getting out. Still, it would have been nice to know of Qui-Gon, Tarkin, Chewbacca, and even Carbonite when we were watching the school lunchroom episode.

Uh ... yeah, I'll take one Ahsoka in Carbonite to go ;-P

Great episode, we are back on track. And understand what Topeka said about maybe Tarkin replacing Yularen, he was very well done, well voiced. It felt kinda like a season one episode, a sence of adventure. And finaly, I can't say it enough, omg Ahsoka, she's so beautiful.

Lucasfilm released a statement regarding Savage Maul:

The IMDB listing for our S3 Season Finale contains some incorrect information – but while neither Darth Maul nor Savage Opress will be featured in the episode, we will be marking the Clone Wars debut of Chewbacca, one of the Star Wars Saga’s most iconic and beloved characters.

If you mean "finished off" as in death, then it would be a waste. I don't think they'll bite the dust any time soon. It would be pretty shocking to seem them get killed off at the end of the arc, but it must be in an epic fashion :heavymetal:

I think it would be more tragic and poignant than wasteful. To paraphrase a trooper from the Clone Cadets episode: the name Domino Squad implies that they're all going to fall. So, even if Echo and Fives escape this arch, I don’t foresee a happy ending for them.

darthy note: merged from Witches Of The Mist:

How did Maul lose a horn in this episode?

At 18 minutes he is fighting Obi & Anakin, cut to Sith infighting, at 19 minutes Maul still fights Jedi, but now sans one horn.

This is especially clear when he returns to Dagob - I mean Dathomir. So, how did he lose the horn? Was it Anakin, Obi, or self-inflicted?

It got cut off by a lightsaber, probably Obi-wan's. Because he's the one that's more likely to be pussyfooting around and just cutting off horns. Anakin would go for the fucking throat.

And before I get shit for this, Obi-wan's adversaries do have a habit of showing up not-so-dead as when he left them.

To be fair, he cut Maul in half. I wouldn't call that "pussyfooting."

Besides,"alive" can be a relative term. Maul could be floating comatose in two separate Bacta tanks or plugged into machine a la Captain Pike.

After the curve balls this season, I’m half-expecting Jango to show-up next year. (Sure someone got decapitated on Geonosis, but who’s to say it wasn't a clone decoy.) Maybe he’ll rescue his son from prison?

Just a heads up - we have a lot people here from all over the world who have difficultly with the American language (including many who live here in America).

What I get from "sithwitch" is that they used the name "Maul" instead of using "Savage" and was pondering what happened to his sliced horn:

After this dilemma is solved I hope nobody gets mad if the posts are moved into The Citiadel thread or even the Trash Compactor.

Yeah, I was just messin'. Although I do find it strange that with the possible return of Maul in the CW, Grievous is now the only major baddie that Obi-wan is able to off successfully. And that wasn't even with his lightsaber.

He has shown a penchant for cutting off body parts throughout the saga (arms, legs, . . . horns), but other than Maul they really haven't been killing strokes. Whose to say that if he lived past ANH we wouldn't have gotten an epic showdown with a Cannon-armed Ponda Baba looking for revenge?

SKY should be caught up with US so hopefully original aspect ratio hits first. :)

[spoil]Well, you sure called it man. Sucks that Echo died ... Hopefully Fives lives on to carry the memory of Domino Squad.[/spoil]
