Lucas has stated that Boba is reminiscent of Eastwood’s “Man with no name” in Sergio Leone's trilogy for the character. Both Joe Johnston and Ralph McQuarrie included a poncho in their concept designs for Boba. It’s likely that the poncho was an homage to Eastwood and Leone. (Take a look at the "Checklist: Five Westerns Every Star Wars Fan Should See" feature at the Official Site for a better explanation.)

I like the side holster as it reminds me of Eastwood, Jango, and the original animated Boba.

boba's got the whole western motif going, but it goes beyond him. Anakin and padme in aotc, luke on tatooine, etc. Everyone's got poncho's on. Maybe they should all where flanel.

Those were all pretty much for Tatooine, right? It's not a motif, it's just a handy piece of clothing for sandy places.

Anakin and Padme were wearing theirs in the Spaceport, on their way to Naboo.

Oh huh, I thought she at least was wearing hers on Tatooine. Suppose it's still a handy piece of clothing.

Ponchos are really big in the SW universe. Like capes. Everyone on Tatooine also like to dress like a Jedi.

This was inevitable since last summer’s ComicCon.

There are definitely a lot of gaps to fill in for his character. For example, what is his relationship with the Mandalorians and his clone brothers? Also, is he aligned with Jabba from the beginning or only later in his career? The fact that he is leading a group of bounty hunters is pretty interesting.

When it comes time for Boba to don armor, I hope its derivative of the Holiday Special / Droids scheme. I’m not to optimistic about this happening as I was counting on Vader’s armor to be the ANH version in ROTS. However, you never know. After all, Filoni is a Boba diehard.

With Boba being in The Clone Wars and Live-Action Series, I know some people are worried about overexposure. I maintain that Boba during his teen years is a different version of himself than him in his twenties.

An eleven year old Boba Fett leading a group of Bounty Hunters, would be a little hard to swallow.

I think it depends on the scenario.

For example, if Boba is leading the group through Kamino, it makes sense. Kamino is his home world and he can blend in with the other clones if needed. Also, he could be under strict orders from someone else and not on his own mission.

In general, I’m sure a group of bounty hunters would follow a kid if he paid them well enough or at least convinced them of a big payoff. Whatever the task may be, I don't expect him to execute it with the same efficiency as Cad Bane.

Definitely depends on the scenario but if say, Boba was a part of a group of bounty hunters and learning the trade this I can swallow :)
Has to learn from someone right and who better than Aurra Sing or dare i say, Bossk!!

Gonna sit back and watch this unfold should make for an interesting debate amongst the die hards. I'm sure there will be whining and so on and so forth from the most avid fans. I'm sure Filoni
will bring something NEW to the table. Cannot wait!

This is a universe where they elect 14 year olds as planetary rulers. I'm not really bothered by Boba's age.

Lucasfilm Official Statement: Boba Fett Makes His Clone Wars Debut!

Feared throughout the galaxy for his ruthless reputation as a bounty hunter, Boba Fett has long been a figure of mystery and intrigue. And though he only had five lines (and a death scream) in the entire original trilogy, it was his silence which helped establish him as an iconic man of mystery – and a fan-favorite character.

Fett wasn’t always a hardened, masked mercenary in head-to-toe body armor. His origins were revealed briefly in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones…but the dangerous first steps on his journey from innocent to icon will for the first time be revealed in the thrilling, three-part season finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Reprising his role from Attack of the Clones, Daniel Logan is back as the boy destined to become the galaxy’s most fearsome bounty hunter. But while his character may be motivated by hatred and revenge, Logan couldn’t be happier to return to that “galaxy far, far away.”

“I’m so thrilled to be part of the series,” he says. “The stories and the animation are just amazing, and I love what they’re doing with the character of Boba. He’s always been so mysterious, and we’re giving fans just enough to keep them hungry and wanting more. This arc is so cool, and I hope the fans will love the episodes as much as I loved working on them.”

Fans attending the Inside Star Wars: The Clone Wars panel at Wondercon on April 3rd (from 4:30–5:30pm in Ballroom 103) will be the first to see an exclusive sneak peek of the explosive second season finale.

Young monarchs don't only occur in the Star Wars Universe; Tutankhamun was nine-years old when he first sat on the throne and ruled over Egypt.

If what we're hearing at this stage is true and a tween Boba Fett is leading a group of Bounty Hunters, then that would be hard for me to accept. If he was part of a group and perhaps learning the craft, then that is far more plausible, but having him lead just seems absurd.

Lucasfilm haven't said anything about him actually leading have they? It could very well be bungled media coverage - nothing new on that front. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it plays out.

[spoil]
Episode 20: "Death Trap"

A young boy wages war against the Jedi Knights who left him orphaned, bitter and alone. Along the way, he enlists the aid of some of the galaxy's most ruthless and deadly bounty hunters.

Episode 21: "R2 Come Home"

When a band of bounty hunters leads Anakin and Mace into a deadly trap on Vanqor, it's up to R2-D2 to warn the Jedi and battle his way back to Coruscant.

Episode 22: "Lethal Trackdown"

After combing the Coruscant underworld for a young fugitive, Plo Koon and Ahsoka pursue him to Florrum for a climactic confrontation.[/spoil]

Descriptions above for the final three Season Two episodes.

So, Boba is being made out to be a mastermind. It appears that he is spending his father's "considerable" pay on revenge.

Kids + any type of non-Disney movie = disaster.

I absolutely hate these types of stories. Not just that Boba Fett is a 12 year old kid bent on revenge - that's horrible enough - but the shrinking of the galaxy by making all of these characters' paths constantly crossing...especially in the thick of the Clone Wars.

In stories, people don't cross paths because they're main characters, they're main characters because they cross paths. It's a given that characters with histories will interact, and I'd just as soon they handle this inevitable (Fett) arc in this cartoon, which has a relatively solid batting average.

I'm wondering if this story arc will introduce a respectful relationship between Anakin and Boba Fett... some foreshadowing perhaps.

Respect may come later on.

I still think that Boba will ice Bane in a bid to become top dog bounty hunter. This act would be much appreciated by Anakin who considers Bane to be a thorn in his side.

In general, if you don’t like Ahsoka’s arc, you probably won’t like Boba’s either. It seems apparent that Aurra and Boba are the flipside of Anakin and Ahsoka. As such, expect Boba to go through a few growing pains like his Jedi counterpart.

Personally, I like everything that's been done to the Fett genealogy. I look forward to seeing how Boba’s character gets rounded out in this series and the live-action show.

I share CoGro's sentiments about kids, but you can't forget that this is a kids cartoon. Characters like Ahsoka are there to appeal to the age demographic this show is aimed at.

I just can't wait till a young Han Solo appears on the show. You know it's coming too. George already wanted to include him in ROTS, and Boba's character arc was supposed to be dealt with in the film, too. I mean, it's becoming clear that George is at least partially using this show to tidy up loose ends and use ideas that had to be cut from the films for various reasons.

Yes, its great cause to worry when George gets heavily involved with Clone Wars. I mean we might end up with another Landing At Point Rain, and we wouldn't want that now would we?

Yeah, and was apparantly heavily supervised by the Flanneled One. He can do wonders when he wants to. Better late than never, I guess.

I do lol at the whole "we're gonna keep Fett mysterious". He's a kid! How's he gonna be a mysterious kid? Ok, the whole "hiding as a clone" is a cool angle, but how're they gonna convince us this guy can lead/hire adult bounty hunters and come off looking believable? Is he gonna be largely silent, stoic, what?

As awesome as that trailer looks, and it does look very well done, I can't help but think of how silly Boba Fett's story arc is.

The idea that he's a clone still disappoints me.

I find it more disappointing that he dons some pretty standard Mandalorian armor and jet-pack rather than custom made equipment.

Actually, some random Mandalorian leader was in possession of a cool black lightsaber - Boba doesn't even have that.

That would be quite a finish to this season. But I just don't see it happening. I think any chance of future Vader having any pseudo-respect for Boba would go out the window if he (Boba) ends up killing his only padawan.

Perhaps, though, we may see some disintegrations?

Makes sense since Ponds is Windu's commander and all, but I dunno if the revenge will be emotional for Windu since we don't see a lot of interaction between the 2.
