A mostly average episode with a FANTASTIC final act -- particularly in terms of character and theme. Anakin going all Dark Side on Poggle sets up a great juxtaposition: namely the fact that, in this episode, using the ends to justify the means leads to a successful outcome. But doing so is just another step along the path toward the Dark Side. It's a really mature and complex decision to portray this episode that way. And regardless of how bored I was for most of the episode, that decision made the whole thing worthwhile.

I really liked this episode.

The highlight for me was the subtle imperial march playing when Anakin interrogated Poggle. Nice tension on the frigate, though. I do enjoy these change of pace episodes.

Wow, this episode is really strong with the dark side!

After viewing the previous four episodes, I have come to the conclusion that the Geonosis arch has been the most consistently interesting and exciting arc in the entire series. From action sequences to character development to the various explorations of the “attachment” theme, each episode has been well thought-out and well executed.

Star Wars has always done a good job of “borrowing” elements and making them its own. So, even though the creative team leaned heavily on the Aliens franchise, and, in this case, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the stories never felt stale.

Thematically, Brain Invaders ties in perfectly with ROTS. In regard to the Clones, they conduct themselves in canny and cold manner when playing for the other team. Their loyalty to the Republic, personal ties to the Jedi, and individualistic traits apparently do not hold up under pressure. (At least Barriss made an effort to resist). Anakin’s decision to “do what had to be done” with Poogle seemed eerily natural as well.

Overall, Ahsoka has benefited the most from the Geonosis episodes. Through her actions, she has proven to be a heroic character in her own rite. She is no longer merely Anakin’s apprentice.

Essentially, Ahsoka is becoming Anakin. Conversely, as his Palawan matures, Anakin is being pushed in a darker direction. He is starting to fall into his Vader persona.

As a side note, I like the fact that the Jedi characters are being fleshed out. Last year, I felt that the background Jedi (Plo, Kit, etc.) all had the same personality. That sameness seems to be missing with season two. Luminara is now established as an intelligent taskmaster; Ki-Adi is considered to be an endearing elder figure (Grandpa Jedi?); and Kit shows flashes of a warm congenial side. I now look forward to meeting the other Masters, including Agen Kolar.

The character development has been suburb. In that way, the show has felt very-OT. There's a lot of personality in this episode in particular.

Anakin's Vaderisms - the hands behind his back as he walks, "Leave us" to the troops, turning his back to Poggle and smacking him...

The dialogue and the mannerisms sold me. Comes to reason that the clone wars should probably have been a bigger part of the films to illustrate that Anakin was substantially affected by the war.

Yeah when the episode finished I realised that there wasn't a lot stuff actually going on in the episode (Action-wise) but it was a really pleasant watch. Anakin's interrogation gotta be the coolest thing ever. If the series will continue going the path they are on now, I can assume Lucas will make not 100 but 200 episodes of this. And to tell you the truth I will watch each and every one of them.

Sorry Stargate Atlantis but Clone Wars rule the sci-fi scene as for today. It may not be mind-blowingly complex but it's never boring.

The whole Geonosis arc is very strong, but this is, hands down, the best episode of the second season. This kind of exploration of Jedi morals is what I'd like to see more in the series.

I wonder if "The Deserter" episode relates to the Duchess Satine. Apparently, her movement is considered radical by some of her more militant planetary brethren.

Yeah that seems pretty likely as footage unvolving [spoil]Mandalorians, Grievous and Speeder bike chase[/spoil] are the ones left from the trailer and I assume that the trailer has footage from the earliest episodes.

5 minute major for mimicing Jar Jar in the forums!

I've been completely skipping this show. I think maybe I'll just pick up the season on DVD/Blu when they release it. The relatively short episode lengths and wait times between broadcasts kind of irritates me. I'd rather watch 'em all through.

You know, that's a keen editing idea, combining the episode arcs of 2-3 episodes into 1 giant story. Wonder if Lucas would be open to doing that.

so something like a saga? that's great, why bother building excitement and interest; just give it to us all at once.

Na, you have to market it right.

After you show on the air, release on the DVD, create some "special edition" single dvd's that are just of that story. Something similar to what Barbie does with its toys.

Well to tell you the truth I take everything Clone Wars related because it's the only good sci fi right now ... I watched the new Trek and Stargate Universe but they totally don't appeal to me.

Cut Lawquane is featured at the very end. In regards to this episode, it was dope as fuck. From the Vader theme motif to the The Clash Of The Lightsabers duel between Barris and Ahsoka (complete with a steam blast!).

The previous episode (Legacy Of Terror) was just as awesome up until the giant catepillar started "talking".
