You are most welcome! :)

The entire soundtrack is pretty cool. Kiner's stuff is very percussive and energetic. Lots of short tracks, 32 in all, with of course John Williams' old familiar themes.

After Listening to it again this afternoon, it struck me how this score really doesn't sound anything like any previous Star Wars soundtrack. But then, the movie doesn't look anything like any previous Star Wars films either, so it seems to work.

Parts of it are almost like the music from 300, but with variations on Star Wars tunes.

Was going to wait to get my copy but fuck that shit, thanks Bander and DP! :heavymetal:

Edit: Hold it, it's only at 56k? Or is there supposed to be a 2 before that 5?

I sent it via e-mail to DP today using my T-1 line at work. If that doesn't work well enough for ya'lls, I'll see what else I can do.

But that might take me until next Tuesday to figure out. :monocle:

Thanks Bander. I didn't even know The Clone Wars score would see a release, but then again this is Lucas we're talking about. Definitely going to pick this one up.

I'm really getting into this soundtrack. I mean, Williams it ain't but that's the point. I hope we can expect the same level of quality throughout the entire series run.

Excellent.

Given a couple of tracks a quick listen at work, but I'll absorb it better once I get home. Certainly sounds better than I imagined - the Empire review almost implied there were no traces of John Williams at all.

The tracks initial low quality 56kbps bitrate is probably for the best, allowing us to keep it up seeing how LucasFilm browses here daily. It should also be noted that BanderSnatch is one of the few here who isn't into the "scene" antics that has gone on here in the past. With that said, up on the various public torrent trackers, there are VBR rips of the soundtrack. :XD:

Some thoughts about the disc:

Track 2: Empire's Bespin theme.
Tracks 5 & 26: :jammin: :heavymetal:
Tracks 22 & 23: Star Wars Horns!

On another note, this subforum will be little bit looser eventually. For the past two years it was a news oriented forum and now it will segue into what the Episode III forum once was. Threads will be started for each new episode, with links to the episode streams Starwars.com is sure to have for each show. As with the Episode III and Original Trilogy subforums, torrent links will be permitted because, hey we aren't responsible for public trackers.

MF.com was the first site to have two dedicated forums for each of the two television series and the page views suggest there is interest in both series. (MF has 50 Posts Per Page, whereas most other sites have 25 Posts Per Page.)

The resulting Clone Wars 2008 isn't what I expected it to be as Lucas initially stated the series was going to be PG-13. Instead we have a baby hutt with diaper humor, a "tween" jedi, and marionette-styled character designs. In recent weeks there has been so much video and in-store retail promotion, there maybe what could be termed [s]Star[/s] Clone Wars fatigue. The Battle Of Christophsis video has made me a believer and given the series action-packed, high definition nature it is sure to be a ratings winner - at least for the first season.

Something tells me that the end of this thing is not at all going to resemble the beginning of it, much like the way Episode I resembles Episode III.

Edit: After having seen the film, I'm surprised how sparse, but effective many of the musical cues were. I really dug the electro-funk during the cliff-ascension battle.

Jumping back really quick to the score discussion: there's a "suite" version on ScoreNotes that's ~10 minutes long and actually kinda nice, in my opinion. It's a bit bombastic and definitely different than Mr. Williams, but I'm beginning to dig it. At least I liked it enough to record it so that I could listen to it again at me leisure...

I've not seen the movie yet to see/hear how the score fits with the film, so my opinion might change once there are visuals attached to it.

The soundtrack fits the movie quite nicely, and is one of the more positive aspects of the film. In fact, almost all of the movie is scored -- from start to finish -- so, in a way, you can say the score of this film is a better fit than that of, say, the hack job done to Williams' score on AOTC.
