Frankly I thought that this movie was very good. From the little I know about the templars this film was accurate and I thought that Orlando Bloom played his best part yet. My biggest problem with this film was that it was missing that something that would have made it great. Maybe that comes from Ridley Scott Having to cut about an hour out of the film. Or not.

Moments of brilliance and some fantastic performances carried the film. . . but Orlando's lack of character depth and some ridiculous "I'm the hero so I can do anything antics" parts kind of made it lose its appeal. . . . how does Bloom fight off soldiers within 5 minutes of being told he could barely hold a sword? How is he the only one who can save people through military/diplomatic tactics?! He's a blacksmith! Oh well. . .

I heard it was chopped up to get a smaller running time. . . it shows. With a more fluid edit (even if it's long) and some actual character in the leading role, it could have been a great film. . .

I can certainly appreciate the moments of brilliance and great acting of some. . . . especially the "I am not those men." and the "convert to islam. repent later" parts. . . gold.
