Well guys I bit the bullet tonight and bought all 3 Limited Edition OT DVD sets at Wally World. I've checked out all three theatrical cuts of the Original Trilogy. Good lord I can't believe how horrible the transfers look. I thought my VHS copies looked a hell of a lot better than this. I'm pretty sure that Lucasfilm has better transfers in their vault and why they didn't use those is beyond me.

While I still like the "restored" 2004 sets better I will say that I can now see why so many fans want all three theatrical cuts to be given a proper digital restoration. I will also say that I am with you guys now on wanting the theatricals to be given a proper digital restoration and released on DVD. By the way I will never bash the man himself but as I said I can see why people want these digitally restored.

I will also like to apologize to those here whom I've fought with about this and thought you guys were crazy on wanting such a thing.

I hope one day George Lucas finally realizes how badly fans want the theatrical cuts to be given a proper digital restoration and released on DVD and do just that.

Way to go, Raveers. Being man enough to admit that you've changed your mind is admirable. Now, if Lord Calidid brands you as a traitor to the 4:3ClosedCaptioned Mafia and hunts you down, at least you'll have that macho-pride thing going for you. That and I'm pretty sure he's whaked out on medication, you can take him.

I never bothered to even see these, do they look that bad?

Yes they do, especially on a HDTV like mine.

As far as Lord Calidid he can try all he wants but fuck him I don't give a rats ass about him.

I like the movies better without the edits and retaining all the old school effects. The SE's are just a weird mish-mash of old stuff, new CGI stuff, occasionally poor and occasionally good editorial changes, and "Wesa Free". Still watchable, but not preferable for me.
