I picked this up on DVD this morning (10/3/2006) at Wally World. I got the "Collector's Edition" which in a bit of a thick box. At first I thought it was a double disc set for the size of the box but then I remembered that the 2-DVD isn't going to be coming out until probably sometime next year. Well I got home and opened it up and found out that there was a full comic book (small enough to fit in the box but a thick comic book) from the X-Men series called "Xavier, Magneto and Stan". The case for this set is cool, it's clear and it just slips over the initial box. I'll have to take some pictures of it tomorrow once I'm able to get the residue off the fucking Wal-Mart stickers that were on the clear case.

Anyways, watching the deleted scenes were pretty cool. There were some that they should have kept in the film, especially the extended fight sequence at Jean's childhood home. Also for one of the alternate scenes when Wolverine and Beast were introduced for the first time there was a part they should have kept in the film...anyways it goes this:
"Wolverine" "I hear you're quite an animal" - Beast "Look who's talking" - Wolverine then Beast bears his teeth and growls instead of giving Wolverine a "Go to hell" look.

The three alternate endings were okay, nothing to specatular but I for one like the film version ending more.

Also too for Wally World there was another option for buying X-Men 3 that you can get that plus a DVD that says, "X-Men Revealed". Probably some behind the scenes features that we might have seen all ready or possibly haven't seen, don't know.

Anyways that's it for now, as I said I'll take a picture of the DVD case and that tomorrow.

Edit: Before anyone asks, I don't have the "know how" to rip this movie sorry.

The alternate ending stuff isn't shit. The only one worth anything is the Logan in the Canadien bar that we saw in the first movie. But that was only cool because of the setting. It had nothing to do with the rest of the movie.

This movie still has its flaws overall, but I think I liked it better watching it this time than in theaters. The parts I like the most are Wolverine struggling on the ceiling to get to Prof. X and Jean when X turns to ash and the end [spoil]when Wolverine is struggling and falling apart trying to stop Phoenix[/spoil]

Oh, almost forgot, there is a deleted scene called Magneto tortures Wolverine. I hoped for a minute there that Magneto might pull some adamantium out of Wolverine like he did in X-Men (2nd series) #25 (?). But alas, Wolverine just struggles on the ground. :whateva:

Ya that scene with Magneto torturing Wolverine should have been left in. Also too they should have included Xavier's lines at the begining of the film to have a continuity thing going on like they did with the other 2 films.

Some people in the US are getting DVDs with all 21 deleted scenes along with the 3 alternate endings. :monocle:

It appears there was some mix up and DVD deleted scenes only meant for the two disc set (all regions but Region 1) got into cases over here.

Word is that it is completely random. People have bought it at Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Circuit City, Target etc., and got either the 10 deleted scenes and 3 alternate endings (which is what we were supposed to get in the US and Canada) or the full 21+3 alternate endings.

Now I figure that since 90% of people have single region dvd players, these discs have to be Region 1 or they wouldn't be working in the players. They are not mix ups with the other region(s) discs.

This tells me the pricks have already pressed the Region 1 two disc sets and they are simply going to sit on them and hope that they can still get the double dip.

Hopefully this will be a PR disaster for FOX.

It's like trying to find the gold ticket to Willy Wonka's.

I'm sure of the 2-DVD set for the Region 1 release is like that too. It'll come out probably after the first of the year, I bet ya on that. I I don't know why Region 1ers didn't get a 2-DVD set along with everyone else. Fucking bastards!

The box set? The one that comes with the comic?

Edit: Holy shit, I just checked my DVD and it has the 21 deleted scenes. I guess if you get the "box set" or the Collector's Edition that has the comic from Wally World it has the 21 deleted scenes plus the 3 alternate endings.

Hmm, okay.

By the way I should point out when I put my X-Men Last Stand DVD into my DVD drive it reads it as STANFORD_BRIDGE and not The Last Stand. Not sure what that really means...

One thing I don't understand is why didn't they bring Nightcrawler back for X-Men 3?

That's just the DVD project code name for it, just like EPIII was called CHARLOTTE.

I remember, the guys responsible for the script said in an interview, that they didn't have anything important for him to do, had quite a lot characters on board already and prefered showing more of the new ones.

That sucks. They should have left him in there for continuity purposes. Also too he could have helped Logan, Storm and the others fight on Alcatraz.

Also wasn't the time span between X-Men's 2 and 3 at least a good two years? Since after all Hank McCoy was now Beast and he did say to Logan about his uniform, "Hard to believe this once fit me". hmm...

No, it is completely random.

I know people who bought the single disc and got either the 10 or the 21. The same for the Stan Lee Collector's Edition. I bought the metal tin at Target and got only the 10/3 package. I bought the single disc at Wal-Mart and got 21/3.

A few people who bought the trilogy boxset got the 21, but others did not. Single disc, Stan Lee CE, Metal tin, fullscreen...widescreen. It's simply the luck of the draw.

-----------

But now FOX has more problems.

Wal-Mart was running something where you could get a exclusive second disc which was called X-Men Revealed.

Anyway, it appears that those discs were mishandled as well. It seems that the DVD you get isn't what's advertised on the back of the case. You end up getting a disc on the history of the X-Men comics. FOX has already established a number to file complaints. You must have your receipt from Wal-Mart and FOX has not yet made a final decision on exactly how they will handle the problem.

Here's the story about FOX being aware of the problem at Wal-Mart.

BREAKING NEWS!

Apparently the studio is aware of the problem and a customer service hotline has been established. You will be required to give them your phone number and home address. You will also be asked to describe the nature of your problem (obviously only for those who have purchased DVDs from Wal-Mart). At this time they are taking down records as a decision has not been reached regarding compensating customers.

NOTE: If you haven't saved your receipt from your purchase however, don't even bother calling.

The contact information is as follows:

FOX HOME ENTERTAINMENT
CUSTOMER SERVICES
1-888-223-2369

Haha no way in hell am I calling them. With the Stan Lee Collector's Edition I have, it truely is a Collector's Edition now that I know I have all 21 deleted scenes plus the working title of the DVD "STANFORD_BRIDGE". Fox can go kiss my ass for all I care.

No, this is just to deal with that second disc from Wal-Mart.

I doubt they'll do anything about the deleted scenes fiasco. The way they look at it the people who got the 21 got a bonus, something that was meant for all the two disc sets outside of Region One.

The poor saps who got 10 got exactly what was advertised. Legally, FOX is safe. There will be some bad publicty though.

I've called the number. Hopefully, I'll get the bonus disc that was supposed to be in there while keeping the other disc (The history of the comic) free of charge.

I'm giving the Target DVD to my nephew (birthday on the 29th), but I'm keeping the metal tin, the 21/3 DVD, the history of the comic DVD and the X-Men Revealed DVD will be showing up in my mailbox...eventually.
