Official Synopsis:
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

The MCU's Spiderman film has officially been titled as "Homecoming".




In other news Variety is reporting that Michael Keaton is in early talks to play a villain role in the film.

Keaton as Vulture would be awesome.

Hmm.

Keaton as a villain is good idea. But, Vulture is a lame villain. I vote for Kraven, Mysterio, Chameleon, Taskmaster, or Hobgoblin. Heck, I think even Scorpion or Shocker would be more fun and edgy than Vulture.

They really need to take a rest with Spider-Man.

I can't believe they are going to throw him in Captain America: Civil War.

That thing basically looks like Avengers 3.

If I were Chris Evans, I'd be insulted by the goings-on.

I'm pretty sure he's not and based on the incredible reaction to CW so far, nobody else is worried either.

Jesus Christ over reaction much??

It is basically telling him that he can't carry the movies alone.

The CA films always have to have other Avengers running around in them.

The truth can hurt.

You can't change the fact that this is a Cap movie. End of story. It just happens to have other Avengers in it.

So yeah get used to it going forward - besides any new origin stories (Dr. Strange) - all existing MCU movies will be team ups of some sort.

That's probably why I'm more interested in Doctor Strange than anything else Disney/Marvel has coming down the pipe.

As I said before, do we really need more Spider-Man movies this soon?

Same for FOX and X-Men.

It's time to give some of these properties a rest for a few years.

I've never been a big fan of the Vulture but I dig the redesign. I kinda was expecting that his flight gear would be similar to Falcon's tech but totally souped up to the max. I like how the mask looks like both a bird and a traditional aviator cap.

Apparently a trailer is coming real soon possibly in front of Rogue One if not sooner online. Some footage was screened at Brazil's comic-con which revealed a new addition to Spidey's suit; the comic accurate web wings under the arms. The upgraded suit is designed by Stark and delivered to Peter by Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan. One of the other shots described showed Spider-Man jumping off the Washington monument and gliding (using those new web wings) toward an oncoming Vulture.

More political correctness and inclusion bullshit.

It's like Felix Leiter and Eve Moneypenny both being black.

Now it's the minority friend and the minority love interest.

In the sequel, I predict that the fat friend will come out of the closet.

And you'd think Downey Jr. would be sick of playing this character by now.

Jeez!

Multicultural bullshit right down our throats. When them coloreds and their Jewish enablers gonna learn?

The "inclusive" casting has more to with tickets sales than ideology. Regardless, claiming it's the end-of-the-world is petty and wrong-headed.

Concerning the story content in the trailer: it seems okay. So far, it doesn't appear to be the definitive Spiderman movie that fans have never gotten.

I like Stark being forced into to the role of mentor. I don't like Keaton being reduced to a generic comic book movie villain.

Like:
- Tom Holland
- Humour
- Peter at school
- Bank scene

Dislike:
- Peter's identity not being kept secret very well
- Vulture's design, and looking to be a generic villain
- Boat set piece too reminiscent of SM2 train scene; also a generic-looking set piece

Overall I'm excited to see it, but agree that it doesn't feel like the Spider-man universe I grew up loving. Still very early though.

I want integration with the MCU, but I also want Spidey's world to stand on its own since the supporting characters are all so strong.

Really cool. And aunt May is totally hot!

It's apparent Sony must be handling the marketing what with the horrendous posters and trailers revealing practically everything of relevance so far. It's like ASM2 all over again with the amount of footage they've shown.

I liked the previous trailers but these latest ones are starting to raise a few concerns. I'm not a big fan of Spidey's suit having an A.I. interface or that Peter doesn't seem to build anything himself other than the web shooters. I don't mind that Tony is a mentor figure for Peter but the way the trailers present it Peter comes off too much as a Stark/Avengers sheep who seems to be doing nothing more that auditioning for a spot on the team. Vulture's motivation also appears to be fueled more by Stark because he put his salvaging company out of business.

I got to wonder if the vlogging segments are going to be in the final film. It doesn't make any sense for Peter to be talking about his CW exploits unmasked on camera if he doesn't want his secret identity to get out. He can't show it to anybody and even it's just for himself it's just a smoking gun waiting to be discovered by somebody. Of course his identity gets discovered by Ned in the film anyway but the point still stands.

Apparently never.

I'm sure the next Batman (once Assjack essentially destroys him) will be made Muslim and looking to unleash jihad upon the citizens of Gotham.

CNN (and you) will tell us it's a great idea.

Despite some sluggish spots here and there I really enjoyed Spidey’s first full adventure into the MCU. It had a lot heart and while the story was simple it had very good character development for its hero (and even its villain which was refreshing). By the end Peter had definitely grown and matured both as a person and a hero.

Michael Keaton was excellent as The Vulture. Keaton has always done a good job at portraying menace and darkness and it added genuine tension to his scenes with Peter toward the end. Marvel villains have gotten tough criticism in past films but this one felt more fleshed out and had more of an arc to follow from start to finish. I liked the whole idea of the salvage crew breaking bad and making black market weapons out of the various tech left behind from previous MCU incidents.

I love The Vulture’s updated design and let’s be honest he was in desperate need of one. Any variation of the green feathered bird suit from the comics was not going to cut it. I think the concept designers did a great job of keeping the spirit of the original but making it into something more functional and formidable looking. I look forward to seeing what they come up with for Scorpion’s suit in the sequel. I think Michael Mando is really good on “Better Call Saul” so I liked the casting choice for Scorp.

Although there were many 'what the hell' reactions to the supporting cast they ended up working well for the most part. I thought Ned would be annoying based off the trailers but he was actually pretty likable as Peter’s best bud. Liz has got to be the most forgiving girl on the planet with as many times Peter had to ditch her. I honestly didn’t see the twist with her coming but that may have been because I thought it was going to be Zendaya’s character based on spoilers which were obviously fake.

Stark served his purpose in the story but thankfully his presence didn't overwhelm the whole movie. It was nice to see Pepper again. I guess that means they’re back together?

All the villains surviving was different from the norm. I think Keaton only signed for one film so it will interesting to see if the Vulture pops up again whether as Toomes or someone else.

Wished they had kept the “Hey you’re not the real Avengers/Hulk totally gives it away” line from the trailer.

The post credit scene was lame and came off as a troll on the audience.

It's nice to be talking about a decent spider-man movie for a change. 8.5/10.
