These spy pics were likely taken by the group of Asian-male extras the production rounded up last fall. I have a friend who was part of the group. Said Keira was snotty.

A snotty attitude is hot. Even if she had a case of the sniffles hence the snotty, she would still be hot.

I really hope this isn't one of those Jack is back but he doesn't remember who he is and the only way to break the spell is a kiss from his true love bs, cause that would just suck.

Nice pics btw.

I COMPLETELY expect Will Turner to become a pirate in this next movie. I could even see him saying something like, "I'm a PIRATE, like my father before me!!" lol.

It would totally fit with the whole star wars motif they seem to be following. ie, disenchanted youth, Will / Luke, falls for girl, doesn't believe truth about father, trys to convert father, becomes like father. Wreckless scoundral, Jack / Han, runs from law, wants to be a good guy. Even BBQ'd like Han! Princess Leia / Elizabeth, secretly loves the scoundral.

There's probably more similarities, but yeah, Will Turner as a pirate will wrap up his character arc nicely.

The deleted script review from Latino Review:

First things first: there’s no way to even talk about the plot of Pirates of the Caribbean 3 without spoiling the second film, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. The events of the third movie seem to pick up right where the second one left off, and by the time this movie begins lots of big things have happened to the characters. So if you’re afraid of having almost every part of the second Pirate movie spoiled, don’t read this!

Pirates 3 begins in the Orient, where Elizabeth Swann, Keira Knightley’s character, is taking a prisoner to the dread pirate Sao Feng. We soon see that she’s in cahoots with Barbossa, the evil ghost pirate from the first film. The spoilers are already beginning! The plan is to exchange the prisoner, who is hooded, for some charts Sao Feng has, but the whole thing is a scam. The prisoner is actually Will Turner, Orland Bloom’s character, and the heroes make off with the charts anyway.

It turns out that the charts are to help them find Davey Jones’ Locker, where Jack Sparrow went after he died in the last film. And again, the spoilers. The Black Pearl sank; it seems, with Jack on board. Jack is not in heaven or hell, though, but in Purgatory, which for him is a desert filled with weird crabs.

Jack is rescued, but things keep getting complicated as characters keep betraying one another and selling each other out. I don’t know what happens exactly at the end of the second film except that they fight a Kraken and everyone stops trusting each other.

Eventually the story builds to the gathering of a pirate armada, which will battle the armada of the Dutch East India Company, and the summoning of Calypso, the Goddess of the Seas. Along the way some characters from the first film will die, get married and others will become immortal.

The script that I have for review reads a little overstuffed and undercooked. There’s a lot going on, right from the first page, but it’s all too quick to mean much. The characters don’t get a lot of time to shine, and it was the characters that made the first film such a pleasant surprise. I have to wonder if much of Jack Sparrow’s stuff seems thin because it’s being left up to Johnny Depp to invent on the set.

The biggest problem with the script, though, is the comic relief characters of Pintel and Ragetti, who are always saying and doing dumb things in order to get a cheap laugh. Their antics may translate better on film, but on the page they were endlessly tired and lame, doing things like tying themselves to the mast upside down before their ship capsizes so that they’ll be right side up when it has rolled over. Hilarious.

The scope of the story is huge, and much more fantasy-based than the first film. Magic is everywhere in the script, as are monsters and other extra bizarre characters. We also meet the other pirates who are out there, including the infamous Blackbeard, who appears at Shipwreck Island, the pirate’s secret hangout. In this film the pirates feel more like a friendly motorcycle gang than separate bands of rampaging criminals.

For those who were excited to see the first Pirates extended into a trilogy – expect a fourth film! The ending of POTC 3 leaves things very wide open for yet another sequel, with the continued quest for immortality as a hinted at storyline. In fact the film has very little closure at all, leaving many of the characters exactly where they were at the beginning of the first film, or in some cases even worse places.

POTC 3 is a bigger story than the original, and even more buckles will be swashed. There are elements that don’t seem to work as well in the script, but since director Gore Verbinski is still tinkering with the script for this film on set, perhaps many of these problems will be addressed.

Calypso is the lady that Davy Jones was in love with.

more info, with conflicting information about who Davy Jones fell in love with. Taken from another board so who knows:

1) World's End is in a sense a purgatory for people who are still being judged whether or not to go to heaven. World's End is literally a waterfall going off the 'edge of the world', and below the waterfall is kind of a desert paradise/oasis. There are giant crabs that chase Jack. The Black Pearl is also there with him, but it looks like it’s beyond restoration. At World's End are thousands of people, and each person has a note in their pocket that has what actions they're being judged on. Jack has many 'sins' against him, but also is noted for returning a cargo of African slaves back to their original homes in Africa (this information is actually proven in a Verizon cell phone V-cast mobile game; info can also be seen on this site under game http://adisney.go.com/disneypictures/pirates/main.html )).

Grant "The Sea Sponge" Sparrow, is also looking for his son, Jack.

2) Will, Jack's crew, Elizabeth, Barbossa, and Tia Dalma are all sailing on a new ship. After many days of Will and Elizabeth not even speaking to each other, Elizabeth asks Will if he saw the kiss. She then explains her reasons behind it, but Will becomes bitter. Throughout the movie, he begins to ignore Elizabeth, and Tia Dalma says that the change that is in him is going to cost them at some point.

3) It turns out that Barbossa did die, but was miraculously rescued by Tia Dalma when his spirit requested her help at World's End. Tia Dalma then tells them that if they can make it to World's End's waterfall, they could possibly reach Jack.

3) Cutler Beckett now has Davy Jones' heart, and has control over him. He then demands to Davy Jones that he capture all pirates of the seas. There is a specific stress upon Davy's reluctance, reflecting the lengths to which he is willing to go to preserve his heart. Beckett also gains control over the Kraken, to further give power to the East India Trade Company. Norrington gains the position as admiral.

4) Will and the pirates have to sail east to the Pacific Islands to gain passageway to World's End. On their way, they run into Captain Sao Feng, who may possibly attempt to kidnap Tia Dalma based on interviews with Naomi Harris (http://actionfilmscomedies.suite101....ibbean_3_news).

5) (The person who gave me this information was a bit weary about this part, so he told me to take it with a grain of salt): Jack then notices the ring that he stole from Tia Dalma's hut allows him to talk to the giant turtles that live around the waterfall. They vow to carry him back up the waterfall if he promises that they can get vengeance back on the Voudoun priestess Tia Dalma. They realize that he has one of Tia's rings, and are convinced that he can lead them to her.

6) Davy Jones comes aboard the pirate vessel Will is one (presumably, everyone is tied up). He’s about to have his crew kill them all because of Will stealing his key, but notices a locket Elizabeth has around her neck. He then asks her where she got it from, and she says from Tia Dalma's hut. Davy Jones is then surprised to know that she [Tia Dalma] is still alive, and rescues them only to find Captain Sao Feng's boat so Davy can meet with Tia once more.

7) Davy Jones ends up talking to Will a lot; finding out that Elizabeth is (supposedly) falling for another man. He tells Will that his own ex-lover fell in love with another pirate (Tia with Jack Sparrow). Will then grows closer to Jones, gaining an appearance of the sea himself as time goes by. Bootstrap Bill is upset with the way Will is turning out.

8) Captain Sao Feng has Tia tell him how to find Beckett's ship, as to kill him and get the heart of Davy Jones.

9) Davy Jones and Barbossa, apparently acquaintances (I’m not quite sure how), lead the crew closer towards World's End. Beckett then catches up with their ship, along with Captain Sao Feng's ship. There's an all-out fight between Davy Jones, Beckett, Sao Feng, and Norrington. As everyone is getting closer to the waterfall, Jack comes up the wall of water riding on the back of two giant sea turtles, much to everyone’s surprise. There is rumored to be a comedic line from Will at this point that Orlando is looking very forward to delivering. Amidst the fighting, Jack's crew and Elizabeth try and rescue him [Jack] from the dangerous waters. While Davy Jones is trying to get his heart back, Will prevents Jack's rescue. Will then gains access to Davy Jones' heart and stabs it with the knife his father gave him. Davy Jones also meets up with Tia, begging for her to return to him, but dies before her. Will then becomes completely changed, gaining a look similar to Davy Jones/the sea. He then kills Beckett, Norrington, and Sao Feng. Liz and the rest of Jack's crew fall into World's End.

This is what I like to call the 'Lord of the Rings effect';

Like Star Wars in the 1970s/80s, LOTR is having a profound effect on movies, but instead of making them more entertaining, they're making them boring, long and overly fantastical.

Pirates 1 was a simple action-adventure flick that was fun, knew its boundaries and therefore worked...
enter LOTR effect: Bringing with it the sense that any franchise can be a fantasy-drama epic trilogy. Pirates 2 was overly complicated without much adventure or action and too much story/fantasy. Pirates 3 looks to continue that trend and completely destroy the down-to-earth, grounded-in-a-believeable-reality magic that characterized 'Pearl'.

Why people find this entertaining is beyond my understanding. It's tacky.

By the way don't mean to hijack the thread here...but here's the final standings of what Dead Man's Chest earned in theaters... This movie clearly out beat Revenge Of The Sith in terms of money making!

Opening Weekend = $135,634,554

Domestic = $420,758,665 39.8%
Foreign = $635,388,000 60.2%

= Worldwide = $1,056,146,655

It obviously was a much bigger hit over seas then it was here in the U.S.

That may have something to do with the fact that the rest of the world is bigger and more heavily poulated than us. :schoolyou:

POTC 4 ??!!

hollywood.com

HOLLYWOOD - Orlando Bloom's much-loved character in Pirates of the Caribbean will reportedly be killed off in the fourth installment of the Disney series, as producers struggle to "cut costs.”
According to British newspaper reports, Bloom's character Will Turner is deemed "not necessary" to the sea-faring saga, although his cast mates Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp are unaffected by the cutbacks.

A Disney insider tells British newspaper The Daily Star Sunday, "Pirates of The Caribbean has proved a huge hit and made a fortune for everyone involved.

"A huge chunk of that success is on the shoulders of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. Love interest Keira Knightley, who plays Elizabeth Swann is a
huge hit.

"But producers and directors are now trying to cut costs. Orlando Bloom has suffered as a result.

"The script for the fourth Pirates movie is being worked on and all the finances are in place but it was decided Bloom's character and a number of
minor roles were not necessary to ensure it would be yet another box office smash for Disney."

Sorry, I forgot to 'p' in my last post.

And POTC4 is kind of pushing it. 3 will need to be a lot better than 2 for me to give a shit about a fourth installment. And bye-bye Legolas. They could have dropped the Bloom from 2 AND 3 for all I care. He seems a bit dainty for pirating. And now that his old man's fate is no longer a mystery, he is just in the way of Jack Sparrow netting Ms. Swans booty.

FYI the pictures that've been posted of the oriental Jack are fakes. The author of the photoshopped images, Sith Camero, admitted creating these images to showcase his own original costume which he premiered at Comic Con '06. The popularity of the pics became so out of hand he finally admitted his creations on his own website sithcamero.com. There is no such costume in the forth-coming film.

Yea, but we've seen what's happened to other "dead" character. And come on cutting costs! please. That's the whole point of shooting the movies back to back. It's still waaay to early for me to believe this.

I second the calling of the bullshit. Can the accuser of the alleged "Captain Jack Ngyuen" pics prove somehow they are not legit?

I don't really care, either way I'll end up seeing all these films at some point. I just don't think it really make sense. But stranger things have happened.

I'm not saying the Barbosa or Elizabeth photos are faked - just the Johnny Depp as Singapore Jack costume. That was the creation of a popular Johnny Depp impersonator as a Comic Con exclusive concept costume. He photoshopped Depp's face onto shots he posed for just to see what his concept would look like with Depp in it. He posted the photos on his own website where other fans got ahold of them and reposted them as "finds" not realizing they were just concept creations. The photos kind of took on a life of their own, and the costumer finally admitted his creation of them.

But the costume is the impersonator's own design and isn't inspired by any known or unknown images of Depp from the film. The costumer said he saw a pic of Keira Knightley's oriental outfit and imagined what kind of Jack would complement that.

Here's the costumer's site where he calls that outfit his "infamous Singapore costume." And you can see a whole gallery of him in his costume.

http://www.sithcamaro.com/main.html

Also found this forum talking about the Singapore Jack photos: http://www.killermovies.com/forums/arch ... -fake.html

Also, the photos posted in response to my post show Depp NOT in this outfit. I get that most people can't believe that someone would waste so much time creating such a hoax. But "creating a hoax" was never the intent of the costumer who made the images. It was just a photoshopping exercise that was taken out of hand by some photo-collecting whore who didn't even read what he downloading and then reposted them up on a Pirates board as exclusives.

I'm thinking it might actually be fanmade now, mainly because a lot of the details in darthwhoever's costume match the ones in the original pics. Like the small creases in the top of the hat, and the little white speck of extra string hanging off the topknot looking thing. Plus his face vs. hands skin shading does seem slightly off in the alleged Depp pics. Not so sure now.

It's a fan made costume. The guy who made it has been to quite a few cons. I've seen other pictures on Rebel Scum and the RPF (prop boards) and he does make a very convincing Captain Jack Sparrow.

Sounds like two words when Mace Windu says it. I guess it depends on the usage.

I like the looks of the whirlpool idea and the edge of the world bit, but I'm still wondering how they are going to work ideas like that in without totally ruining the suspension of disbelief.

Zombie-pirates, giant squid, even magic and curses are concepts which seem outlandish, but still are small enough to fit into the average viewers idea of what might be, at least from a fictional perspective. Everyone knows there is no big fucking drop off the end of the Earth, though. It'll be interesting to see how they use it and if it works. I hope they make this one a little shorter, I was having a nicotine fit for the last 45 minutes of the second one.

The last movie was nearly entirely ridiculous. Obviously, this worked. People came and the movie made shitloads of money. Look for Disney to follow this proven formula with World's End and make a completely ridiculous picture. I'm expecting nothing less.

By the way, there's no trailer for this yet? The release isn't too far off.

Wow, Keiths make-up makes him look as if he's been in a tanning accident or had hot-dog grafted to his face. Hope the on-screen footage looks better than this off set snapshot.

Trailer description from AICN

"...Here are my impressions... firstly, the trailer kicked ass. Bruckheimer said that PIRATES 1 and 2 were ours d'ourves for the 3rd flick and the trailer does represent that.

It begins much like the last film’s trailer with the creepy little girl singing Yo-Ho Yo-Ho a Pirate’s Life For Me and then we see footage from the end of DEAD MAN’S CHEST, namely Barbossa’s reintroduction and the set-up for third film.

The new footage begins with a wreck of a ship sailing through icy waters. The design is very asian-influenced and on board we see Barbossa, ice in his mustache and beard.

The next shot is of that ship heading towards a huge waterfall as Naomi Harris, the voodoo lady, narrates again about goin’ “to dee ends ub dee urff…”

We don’t see how Captain Jack is rescued or saved, but our first look at Depp is onboard a ship, looking around at all the familiar faces from his previous crew and Kiera Knightley and Orlando Bloom.

Sparrow says, “Did no one save me just because they missed me?” And everybody kind of looks around guiltily, then the zombie monkey raises his hand.

The main thrust of the trailer was to set up the goal of Lord Beckett to wipe out all pirates, so that his greedy and corrupt corporation can have complete control of the seas and that all the pirates have to band together to stop him. There are four groups, each from a different corner of the world, including a glimpse of Chow Yun Fat.

Then the big stuff hit, epic shots of fleets of pirate ships engaging an enemy, cannonballs ripping wood.

I was a little worried that we didn’t see any Davy Jones in the trailer, hoping they didn’t just kind of throw his character and arc to the side, but then I caught a glimpse of him in a quick cut, Sparrow smacking him upside the head.

Then I caught more than a glimpse of him.

This is my favorite shot from the trailer. The camera circles around Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones as they duel. The kicker is they are up in the rigging of one of the ships, standing face to face on the mast… probably the Black Pearl, but I didn’t get a close enough look. I was more drawn to the fast and furious sword play. Looked great, like the best parts of the PHANTOM MENACE lightsaber duel with Maul and Obi-Wan. Maybe not as fancy, but definitely as furious.

The trailer ended with Jack Sparrow standing beside a cannon, holding a flame to the fuse as someone says, “Are you mad?” He replies, “If I wasn’t then this probably wouldn’t work,” and ignites the fuse, firing the cannon, which somehow releases a rigging somewhere and the rope Sparrow was holding yanks him up and off the deck of the ship.

Big applause and Bruckheimer said that there would be a big event to unleash the trailer in 25 cities March 19th. I think you might be hearing a little more about that soon…"

Davey Jones swordfighting. :heavymetal:

Is this film delayed? It seems awful late to put out a trailer for a May release.
