official teaser!

[flash width=640 height=385]http://www.youtube.com/v/7pAqUTGJ9GI&fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0&hd=1[/flash]

that's a young Bane crawling out of that well. And it is thought that Gordon is talking to Bruce Wayne with a ski mask on in his hospital room.

BANE REVEALED FULL BODY

Description of the scene being filmed from people watching was Bane blowing up a prison and allowing the prisoners to escape. If you remember the first story arc of Bane in the comics, he releases all the criminals from Arkham to tire Batman out and then breaks his back!

ImageImageImageImage

Notice in the last pic, he's tearing up a picture of Harvey Dent!

multiple camoflage tumbler pictures on set:

kinda a big plot spoiler but not if you've been following along in the thread

[spoil]

Image

Here is how Bane gets his hands on three camo tumblers: There is a new Wayne Enterprises board member who is on board to help Bruce re-establish his father's philanthropic activities. She turns out to be none other than Talia al Ghul and Bane is Talia's body guard / leader of the LoS who takes up where Bruce left off from Batman Begins.

"Marion Cotillard is playing Talia al Ghul. In the pics she's leading a group of mercs while nonchalantly walking over a bunch of dead GCPD and then gets inside a tumbler of her own!

In my above post about Bane, you see him tearing up a pic of Dent. He has found out about Dent / Two Face and is breaking out the criminals Dent put behind bars to give Batman a workout. They've all been released, armed, and set loose all at once on Gotham. This causes Bats some problems, but it also clears his name in the process.

Bane’s teeth mask and the snowy fistfight remind me of TDKR:

The photos also show how ridiculous Batman mythology can seem. Here’s another example:

What, exactly, are you expecting?

Selina Kyle has worn black leather catsuit (excuse the pun) for the better part of her comic life, unless we count the purple cat eared suit, and I'm thinking that doesn't fit so well with Nolan's vision of Gotham.

Personally I've never been a fan of Nolan's underwhelming art direction. The Joker might be the most "inspired" but just about everything else has been bland.

The uninteresting looking Bane and Catwoman don't shock me.

Nolan's 2 for 2 with Bat-flicks thus far, I'm not going to split hairs when it comes to a cat burglar's jumpsuit. People complained when we got a look at the bat-suit for TDK but when that film unspooled you had to be one jaded motherfucker to NOT be impressed by the film.

She really needs the cat ears.

There's nothing actually wrong with the outfit, there's just nothing about it that says "Catwoman". :cathead:

Pittsburgh Steelers players to be in TDKR? As some kind of Gotham City Football Team?

Talk about the ultimate "take me out of the fantasy" moment.

I'm hearing a lot of "in Nolan we trust" rhetoric but from everything I've seen and heard, it's sounding more and more like this will by far be the weakest of the three.

alright, here's some gossip I've been hearing. take it for what it's worth.

[spoil]
The explosions that were going on in the field is going to wipe out most of the field like a giant crater, the football players and sideline personal get killed off as well. Bane comes through the tunnel that initiated the explosion and gives his speech with a hostage and a machine. He slits a guys throat as well. Mercenaries attack the aisles of the stadium and causes mass chaos. Before the scene started the PA told the audience that Bane steals a "weapon" from Bruce Wayne and at the football game is the mayor of Gotham as well as Bruce Wayne himself(nowhere to be seen?)

The item is rumored to be an Earthquake machine from Wayne Enterprises This plot point is somewhat taken from "Batman - No Man's Land" where Gotham is struck by an Earthquake

Image

Notice the raised sections of the field where they film

Senator Patrick Leahy had a cameo in The Dark Knight - didn't hurt that flick much.

You're comparing a guy that 99 out of 100 people couldn't pick out of a lineup to superstar athletes from the most popular sport in America. When the audience sees Troy Polamalu's hair and Big Ben, there will be a noticeable reaction in theatres.

I think you're making a bigger deal out of this than it will actually be when the film hits. Just because they're in a scene doesn't necessarily mean they're going to be given ample screen time and even if they are it probably won't matter as long as Nolan and co. have done their jobs in the moments prior to and told a great fucking story.

I’m having a lot of fun working on Chris Nolan’s ‘Batman,’ the latest Batman movie. I’m having an absolute blast doing it, but it’s very big. The thing that’s wonderful about Chris is that he is the most successful person in Hollywood at the moment, but his movies aren’t Hollywood. It feels like you’re making an indie. He’s actually a really alternative filmmaker. He just happens to have like a seven billion figure budget. [Laughs] I like to call him Hitchcock, but he blows things up.”

They just released your first official still, but we also got a ton of unofficial material from the fans hanging around the set. How does that make you feel? Is it stealing your thunder and is there any concern about revealing too much about that final product?

It’s disappointing. I think everyone feels a slight frustration with it because those stills so undercut the work that’s being done. No, no one’s nervous about it. I mean, honestly, like, wait till you see this movie.

Chris is doing insane things in it. And it’s gonna be marvelous and it’s gonna be way beyond what anyone imagines that it could be. You can’t imagine the things that he’s doing, at least I couldn’t until I read the script and I was like, ‘You’re really? Okay, you’re going there!”

And it’s Chris Nolan; even the picture that he released of me, that’s not everything. That’s like a tenth of what the catsuit is. And I’ve got to say, I find it frustrating and I know he finds it frustrating, but I also think that he’s having fun with it, kind of like spooning out secrets. He has a lot more control than you think.

I was at Heinz Field on Sat and I wanted to clarify a few points from your earlier posts. The Tumblers that were there were not filmed at all. They brought them out as a fun distraction for everyone in the stands (official word from the extras organizers in a thank-you e-mail is over 18,000 were there).

Once to fire off a "shot" from the giant turret (a charge in the field exploded) and once carrying
Pittsburgh Steeler Hines Ward who is playing Gotham Rouge Heinz Ward in the film (Ben Roethlisberger and former Coach Bill Cowher are also on the Rouges). We were also told that Bane has stolen the Tumblers, though no further details were given on that.

As it was explained to us, on the opening kickoff return Bane blows up a significant portion of the field killing the players (that was explicitly stated in the direction we got for our reaction shots) and creating a giant smoking crater. The raised platform in those photos is all that will remain in the final shot.

Then Bane comes out with a bunch of mercenaries, a guy who was not identified and the big round thing already described. He gives a speech, and it was clear that what we heard, and what was in the video posted yesterday, was not even close to the full speech he'll give in the movie (since he's wearing that mask that obscures his mouth I'm assuming he'll be looping all of his dialogue anyway) and I imagine that's not really how he'll sound in the final product.

The sequence ends with Bane breaking the guy's neck.

Now, though we got no clear idea of his motivations or goals on Saturday, some friends of mine were hired extras on Sunday and relayed that
the object he brought out was a nuclear bomb, the guy whose neck he breaks is the inventor/constructor of said bomb, and that as soon as Bane gives his speech he takes the bomb and his mercenaries and leaves.

The direction that they were given was that the things that Bane was saying were kinda making sense in a twisted way. So what I thought would be a pretty standard hostage situation after the events on Saturday turns out to be more like he's trying to win people over to whatever cause he has which, to me at least, is a WAAAAAY more interesting plot development!

They also filmed the explosion of a luxury box which reportedly contained Mayor Richard Alpert.

You mean the team isn't called the Gotham City Bats?

I'm not a big fan of the Nolan movies. I thought Begins was kind of a bore and lead Bale had no charisma or that quirkiness that Mr. Wayne has been endowed with by the likes of Michael Keaton and others. I LIKED those things about the character in the other interpretations.

Though entertaining, Dark Knight was missing some serious joy. I'll probably always prefer the '89 Batman and Returns since I watched those as a kid. I like the bizarre, macabre, more fantasy-oriented living comic book worlds in those. They're more irreverent and fun. They don't take themselves too seriously, but they're also not making fun of the material (just having fun WITH it).

The new ones are kinda TOO serious for me, or at least not as adventurous and amusing. I don't want to be this Batman. One highlight of Dark Knight amid all the dread, terror, death and mutilation was that truck chase.

Yeah, anyway, judging from photos alone (I know, huge mistake), I think this one sure looks like it has serious potential to be a crappy threequel. But bear in mind this is coming from someone who isn't a member of the Church of Christopher Nolan.

It's more like a mangled cockroach , don't like it very much, but it fits in well with the thumbler

As for the Villains, catwoman might get her full outfit near the end of the movie or halfway, if Anne was cast for her looks then she is right spot on

Image

She really reminds me of this version

As for Bane, he should look more like Lord Humungus from Mad Max 2, this guy really looks like a failed experiment

Image

I think these were poor choices for bad guys, with Nolan's vision on the batman universe considering the two first movies, but atleast he didn't go for the Penguin , Bookworm or King Tut.

I have to see the movie first, it might still surprise!

I own Arkham Asylum and it's by far the best representation of Batman in any media outside the comics and by far the best superhero/comic book inspired video game ever made.

It's really part Burton, part Batman: The Animated Series, and part The Dark Knight all packaged together perfectly.

I can't wait for Arkham City.

So The Penguin speaks with a Cockney accent now? Intriguing.

I must say I love the fact they got so many different classic villains for Arkham City. And each one seems carefully designed (Bane was somewhat underwhelming in Asylum - every opponent exposed to Venom was like him).

All right, so it IS a helicopter. they're adding the blades in post. Oh, and it's being called "The BAT" at the moment.

There is a chase scene involving 3 tumblers and a bomb truck being chased by Catwoman through the city. "The BAT" comes in and helps take out the tumblers.

The catsuit is little too close to the 60’s show's costume for my taste. Also, I prefer a cowl with goggles. Thankfully, it’s not a dress and cape combo.

Not to slight Heath, but Mark Hamill is the voice of Joker. For fun, all of his appearances in The Mask of the Phantasm are below. Warning: spoilers.

I love the Batman Returns ending but it seems sort of like a retread on the first. Pan up to the skyline and hero reveal. Great to see Catwoman but I think the crescendo of the score delivers more bang in Batman.

All that said, I think Batman Returns is one of the all-time great movie scores. I say it's better than Superman. It's both subtly brilliant and iconic.

Yeah, I completely agree with you about the score - it's amazing. And within the ending scenes the whole build up to the last shot with the catwoman/cat shadow noticed by Bruce in a dark alley works extremely well. Great atmosphere altogether.

But I was thinking more of this bat signal scene actually:

It always felt incredible to me as a kid to think that Batman spends his nights sitting motionlessly in the dark mansion, lost in thoughts, but always alert - waiting until someone finally calls him with the signal. That's who Batman is to me.

What a psycho! ;)

That's exactly why I think Keaton's Wayne is so underrated. He looks like a tormented weird guy without even trying. Christian Bale is more an angry snob who tries too hard to prove something to himself.

Not to say I haven't enjoyed the Nolan films - I do - but I never get the impression that Bale's Wayne is actually insane or troubled. He talks about it a lot but I never get it in his eyes or the subtlety of his performance. The scene where Wayne leaves the roses on the street in "Batman" is perfect. It says all I need to know about his character: every living second of this man's life is dedicated to destroying the miserable world that stole his parents from him.

Keaton is perfect at playing those scenes. As for the action... I think Bale is far superior and way more scary and imposing. He's a better "Batman" but not as good a Bruce Wayne. Except for that raspy voice though.

To me, Bale’s Batman/Wayne seems more damaged than Keaton’s. Keaton conveys his pain through stoicism or controlled anger while Bale looses himself in emotion. It’s like he and Nolan are using the guilty and anguished child Wayne from Begins as a reference point.

In general, I enjoy bat-variety. The Batman has been around for a while and it’s usually interesting to see a new personal spin on the franchise. Case in point is the films; Burton’s operatic take and Nolan’s chamber thriller approach suit their individual personalities. Even though I think Nolan’s movies are deeper and more reverent to the source material, I still like the Burton films for what they are. (Conversely, I wish I could find more to like about Schumacher’s two tries.)

It was a nice touch that while the Nolan brothers were re-imagining The Dark Knight Returns, The Killing Joke, and The Long Halloween with TDK, they also managed to find important places to reference and contrast with Burton’s original film.

Anyway, regarding the current movie, there is a new rumor (which seems obvious once you think about it):

As a professional musician that has been on more than a few sound-stages... the knowledge and insight that you guys posses in your discussions about movie music is one of my favorite lurking experiences.
