more to the point, when the score soundtrack is out, I want that ha! I'm sure the "music from and inspired by" soundtrack will be worth a listen, that Goo Goo Dolls song is 'aight for a ballad and the rest of the line-up looks worth a [s]download[/s] purchase.

In other news, apparently there is another "Target" exclusive trailer floating around, anyone seen it?

And they're back together again, putting together a new album and touring. Their latest song is called Tarantula (at least it was last time I looked them up).

There was a crappy cam quality version posted at TFW2005. So far that's the only version I've seen to d/l so far.

The Smashing Pumpkins are back together. They are coming to do 10 shows in a small college town about 3 hrs away from where I live. Then they are doing 10 in San Francisco.

Well, the Sydney premier was today and some reactions are starting to come in. All seem to be positive.

From Don Murphy's boards:

I can't believe the bitching from so many that haven't seen it, but i guess that also comes from bliss not giving heaps away!

anyhow, I saw it and Bay tonight!!!

what can i say, spoilers.

Frenzy talks heaps, it's in a quick, jumbled way, that suits him, and he's cool.

Barricade has a go for Sam, and is foiled by Bumblebee, who has a quick line at the end that isn't that memorable. This is my one negative point.

People want to know the names --- SPOILERS ---

Much of the Decepticons communication is through their Cybertronian "digital" (not accurate term, but i can't remember what the techies say in the film) language.

THere is a roll call of sorts where the cons all target the Allspark, and yes i was shocked but not worried about Devastator. Maybe it was a mistake, but in my mind, 'Devastator' as a noun worked for the character, when you see him, far out!!!

This movie hits all the beats that stooges that have been on here a while (for me almost three years) have been expecting. But guess what, what i wanted came true.
This film had heart. It hit me (and my wife) with an emotional tug that we both agreed was huge - all imho.

(Spoilers warning!)

CAREFUL READING - SPOILERS MAY HURT YOUR EYES!

We couldn't help but want to scream with Sam when Bumblebee is attacked by S7, and then taken away.

Ironhide and Ratchet are great. Cool new voices.

The voices weren't recognisable by me, BUT they worked, Jazz has a few cool quick lines and Ironhide probably has the most for any transformers after Prime and Bumblebee (if u include the singing)

Sam and Mikaela, and Glenn are cool humans. Lots of funny scenes.
But the connection of the boy and his car worked. This movie leaves a lot open - a direct call for any autobot to come to earth.

3 COOL CLIPS DURING THE CREDITS!

TWO of funny scenes with Sam's parents being interviewed about aliens.

PLUS ONE AWESOME CLIP OF STARSCREAM LEAVING EARTH and our atmosphere!

....

all in all. this is Transformers. it's freakin awesome. Action scenes are very sweet, Prime is Prime for a reason. He can dish it with the best, and Megatron, for the little he's in is great.

There will be more.

I haven't been this excited for a movie since 99 waiting for Episode 1 to come out. For me this is just as exciting as getting a new SW movie, probably more so.

There's some new footage but it's real quick. Coolest part is the at the end where Blackout transforms into copter mode and flies over Sam.

New shot of Prime is sweet too.

Amazing, Shia actually was entertaining...

Seeing this movie on the 25th here in Australia, so I'll let you know...

Hold shit, Prime just looks so awesome. I fucking LOVE the designs, I never understood what people had against them...they look even better in Hi-Res and much more awesome in motion.

June 25th needs to hurry the fuck up and get here already...

That's cool that it'll be out in theaters in Austrailia on the 25th. I look forward to downloading it before July 3rd then from our Aussie brothers. BTW, any reason why it moved in the US from the 4th to the 3rd?

Any sign of the soundtrack yet? I'm suprised it hasn't leaked.

There's no way.

Maybe end credits theme, but there is no way that's playing at any point during the movie.

I wouldn't even put that in backyard snuff films.

the official release date here (AUST) is the 28th of June which is suprising considering we normally get these blockbusters the same day or maybe a week later.

... in saying that, the general media screening is on the 25th, which is well after the US and other countries, who'll see it this week.

So it's swings and roundabouts...and either way, I get to see it free. Yow!

Interesting report from a poster over at the http://www.donmurphy.net/ boards who got to visit ILM. Interesting tidbits here including ILM hating the designs at first, wanting Ratchet to be white and trying to convince Bay to keep the faceplate on Prime for the whole film.

A few days ago, Jolin, myself and a few other select people were graced with the honor of visiting ILM in San Francisco. Our first stop was their massive, 300 seat, all digital screening room...er theater. After wetting our appetites with the ILM show reel, a treat by itself, we dove into the land of Transformers for a look at some completed sequences from the film, as well as some things many will probably never get to see. Yes, we went over NDA's before we started the day, so yeah, there are things I can't talk about, so don't ask.

For starters, we watched the entire desert sequence with Skorponok. Man this guy doesn't mess around. Fast, mean, and likes to stab cool soldier peeps with his tail and fling them around like poop off a stick. All in all it looked great. The shot of the plane banking to one side while sending down a barrage of glowing bullets at Skorpy is up there amongst my favorites. My one gripe being the last shot where the tip of his tail gets shot off as he escapes into the ground. It kinda looks hokey.

We saw many of the key sequences and then afterward, dissected each one from the ground up, getting to see how the shots were done. The amount of work that can go into a 2 second shot is mind boggling. The breakdown of the first Blackout transformation was pretty sweet pretty. They showed us the original footage that was shot and what they had to do to complete the effects. One thing they made us note was that during production, often times they didn't have time to shoot any "clean" plates. All they got was the shot with the actual helicopter sitting there, as opposed to two shots, where in one the helicopter would be gone. This meant that they needed to digitally paint out the real helicopter before they could replace it with the CGI one.

The single shot of Starscream transforming and landing in the street has so many elements to it, (hello trees! )it makes you wonder how they managed to get this film done on time. Initially they called to have 15 transformations in the film total. In the end, after seeing how things were going, they came in with 48 in the completed film. I believe the final budget of the film came in closer to $190 million rather than the projected $140. I can see why. Whatever the case, it will be worth it.

The "hero" Transformation of Optimus Prime will probably be one of the coolest things you will ever see. You only see the beginning and end of it in the trailers. It begins with Prime skidding to the side in the streets of LA, then the camera (using the modified Porsche Cayennes) does a "Bay 360" spin around Prime as he transforms and it ends on Prime posing in his "bring it" pose we've all seen as his faceplate closes up.

While we're on that subject. Of course I brought up the design aspects and such with the ILM team there. What they had to say may or may not surprise you. The day they saw the initial designs that we're sent to them from the design firm working on them in LA, everyone flipped out. ILM HATED THE DESIGNS. People were throwing fits and walking out saying they weren't gonna work on it and such. Keep in mind these guys are just like us, 25-35, and many of them huge G1 fans. They said it really took some time to get used to them and warm up to them. A lot of it had to do with actually talking to Bay about it and being able to understand where he was going with the film and what he wanted to do. This was never going to be the cartoon, never a G1 version, never any other version we know. It's a fresh take. Perhaps if that were made more clear in the initial stages of the film, we would all have been more accepting. That in mind, I still can't say I like the design style, but what can I do?

The one single thing that pretty much everyone was in agreement on was the faceplate. Everyone wanted to keep it on. From us to the writers, to the animators. They even purposely kept it on during preliminary renders in hopes of swaying Bay's decision on it. Alas, it was his film and he had final say. Fin.

I asked about the rumored G1 design tests. ILM knows nothing of the sort. As far as they know they don't exist. They say if anything they might have been done in animatic form by the design team in LA, but they don't know anything about that.

I also brought up the Weaving deal. The people that were there from Paramount really couldn't explain it. Megs has 4 lines and doesn't even sound like Hugo Weaving. They aren't even advertising his involvement, the general public doesn't even know he's in it. Many agree that it would have been Welker just because and why not? Again it seems to be one of those things that was Bay's call.

We saw so much it's tough to go through everything. We saw pretty much everyone's transformations. Jazz really moves around a lot as he transforms. Can you say Eddie Gordo? Ratchet has a pretty neat transformation as well. Oh yeah, they all agree he should have been white. By the time they got there, they already filmed too many of his scenes and it was too late. Well poo...

In conclusion. This film looks amazing. Bottom line, it really doesn't matter if there are things about this film that you don't like. It's all looks so fantastic on screen that it simply won't matter. You will like it for the simple fact that it looks great. The effects are great, the cinematography is great, Shia is great, Megan is hot, we have giant fucking robots from outer space that turn into shit. What else do you want?

What's done is done, and what's done is great. Just sit back, shut up, and enjoy it. (I still don't like the flames.)

That entire review pretty much sums up my feelings on the show! Heh, except i liked the designs from the start...because I'm not attached to the G1 designs by my Coronary Artery, like some other rabid fans...

...and Megan is ridiculously Hot. She's ursurped Jessica Alba as my favorite...

If I had a decent camera and the net connection to upload a version, I'd try for you Tony since the guys at one of the cinemas here wouldn't notice me using one. But I'm 0 for 2.

In regards to TF themes floating around, I haven't heard all of them, but there is one out there by a band from here in Canberra called MeatBee that they've been pimping on the radio. It didn't make it onto the album because of rights issues, but it might be one of the ones that you've been hearing.
