STORY

An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months, society has crumbled: There is no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV.

Rick Grimes finds himself one of the few survivors in this terrifying future. A couple months ago he was a small town cop who had never fired a shot and only ever saw one dead body. Separated from his family, he must now sort through all the death and confusion to try and find his wife and son. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living.

Definitely have been looking forward to this. I haven't read the comic but the fact that Frank Darabont seems obsessed with this project has me excited.

I'll definitely check this out. Looks like AMC might have another big hit, along with Mad Men.

This is looks like it may have some promise. Cool to see that Lennie James is in this series.

It's really good! Drama through storytelling, horror through atmosphere. Not a lot of that in the genre these days. I've never seen the comic so I don't know how well the show works as an adaptation, but it stands very well on its own. I'm only disappointed in the fact I'll have to wait 3 or 4 weeks to see another episode.

Walking Dead wasn't supposed to premeire until two weeks from now on Halloween. Even if you are growing weary of the undead trend still watch.

Absolutely watch.

Great episode, doesn't stray too far from the original, but the feel is there for it. I'm in Topeka's boat now, 2 weeks will seem like forever.

:o what a GREAT show! production values are off the chart, makeup is awesome, full on gore and language and drama and emotion. better than most movies released this year! I would watch on tv if I had cable :cathead: The acting is top notch too! The black family was fantastic.

One of the best parts, I think, is the understanding that the walkers seem to have. I actually felt bad for the one in the park. It's like she begged for release.

WOW, even with my expectations being high it surpassed what I thought could be done in a Tv show. The production values rival Lost for a television series looking like a movie. Acting superb throughout. Cannot wait for the next episode!

Woah, that was spectacular! Once he capped that first walker I knew this was going to be badass. Cannot wait for ep 2.

The only bad thing about the seeing the show, was knowing there's only 5 more episodes left.

Yeah, that moment really stuck out for me as well.

I really wasn't expecting much out of this show (despite its pedigree) but it impressed me. Heck, I even saw the repeat that immediately followed the first broadcast. I'll definitely tune in for the next episode, although the very end with the song kicking in was kinda silly and left me wondering about the direction the series will take.

Great show last night. I thought ep. 2 was far superior to the pilot (and that's saying a lot). Lots of setup for the rest of the season/series but none of it felt like setup. Overall, some great storytelling. THIS is what episodic television is all about.

EDIT: One other thing I wanted to point out, much like AMC's other great series, Mad Men, The Walking Dead seems to suffer none of the constraints of being a basic cable show. I honestly can't imagine either show being any more effectively explicit had they been on HBO or Showtime.

The last 15 minutes of the third episode totally made up for the slower pace & less involving moments of the previous 45.

I know I'm late to the party with this one but I downloaded the series today and watched it. Fuck what a good intense series. Are they planning to continue it? The way they ended it, it certainly could continue.

Did any of you catch last Sunday's Episode?

That was one hell of a fucking ending!!!

Intense!

 :heavymetal:

Apparently the show is making a hiatus 'till Feb 12.
I'm anxious to watch the follow-up episode after seeing that dramatic ending.

I thought it was ok. As a whole, though, I'm not liking Season 2 nearly as much as Season 1.

Well, only one episode left for Season 2

I'm really liking this show ...

This week’s death didn’t surprise or affect me as much as the prior episode’s. The second half of season two has definitely been stronger than the first. Overall, I think the show is suffering from Darabont’s absence. The finale should be interesting.

Not sure if anyone is still watching on here, but the first half of season 3 has been really good. I like the pace this year compared to the farm last season. All action and death.

I think season 3 has been awesome so far. A huge improvement over last season. By comparison season 2 was like getting shot in the ass with a sedative dart.

I didn't bother with season 2 after hearing some poor feedback. I might give 3 a try. Actually, the episodic game by Telltale has been really good, with a lot of heart in it. I never got that kind of emotional connection with the show's characters.

I would say that season 3 has been good, but not great. The characters are still unnecessarily simplistic and clunky at times. That being said, I look forward to the show returning in February. For the most part, the overall plot has keep me guessing as to what happens next.
