Kinda boring considering we've already seen this image before from the Empire cover.

[s]The trailer is supposedly going to hit tomorrow (Nov 10) at 4pm PST/7pm EST.[/s]

:siren: Trailer is up!

1080.mov
720.mov
480.mov

It's basically the CC footage mixed with some new shots.

Yer Avatar is giving me an allegedly only mental boner, Mr Thundercracker. This flick is looking better than I expected, and I pray it isn't just a marketing ploy. Y'know, like when they show all a movies best bits in the trailers. Still, guarded excitment bubbles in my blood looking at this thing. Thanks for posting!

I was wondering if we would see any actual "God" like abilities in this from Thor and not just some jock-fu kicks and punches. Glad to see that glimpse of the hammer earthquake thing!

The acting looks shiteous though.

Wow. Hope the movie lives up to that trailer. I can almost smell the silly-putty stuck on the newsprint when they pan through Asgard. Looks great.

And on a side note, will Natalie Portman be bottling her breast milk and selling it for big $, calling it "Nerd Mead" as a product tie-in for the film?

SPOILER LISTS
[spoil]

1. Thor disobeys the orders of his father Odin (a very angry Anthony Hopkins) and finds himself casually cast out of their home of Asgard. Thor crashes to earth outside a small town in New Mexico and, more specifically, into the side of Jane Foster's (Natalie Portman) truck.

2. Separated from its owner, Thor's hammer Mjolnir falls to earth and quickly garners the attention of the locals, who partake in a Sword in the Stone-style competition to lift the weapon. Look out for cameos by celebrated Thor scribe J. Michael Straczynski and the creator of the comic, the omnipresent Stan Lee.

3. The government move in on the hammer and Thor goes up against a small army of military types (including sharpshooter Hawkeye) in an action-packed sequence where Hemsworth shows off his fighting training.

4. The film has a more humorous tone than you might anticipate, with more than a couple of surprising and slapstick moments.

5. Hemsworth is a giant. You can easily believe that he grew too big for his first costume when standing next to the diminutive Portman, who seems quite taken aback by his size, too.

6. Loki is not to be trusted (as if we had to tell you).

7. The Asgard set pieces are mind-blowing, from the soaring towers without to the huge throne room within, while the windows open onto an alien cosmos that is truly breathtaking.

8. Be prepared for plenty of human-Asgardian culture clashes. Thor showing his approval of his first cup of coffee by smashing it on the floor is only the first of many.

9. Keep an eye out for the nod to Thor's original alter ego, Donald Blake.

10. Don't expect everything to go to plan for your favorite thunder god.

-The first piece of footage, and the longest at roughly twenty minutes, started off with the scene where Odin banishes Thor to Earth. While we’ve already seen snippets of this in the first trailer, the entire scene is far more powerful and the exchange between the two sent shivers down my spine. Seeing Odin’s clearly hurt reaction to being called an, “Old man and a fool” by Thor and his subsequent rage as he strips him of his powers showed just how 100% perfect a casting choice Anthony Hopkins was for this role.

-Chris Hemsworth also nails the Asgardian (well, English) accent perfectly. I know there has been some doubt about this, but there is really nothing to worry about.

-Following this, we’re treated to a VERY impressive CGI sequence of Thor falling to Earth. The action quickly cuts to him being knocked over by Jane Foster and her team. (this is the scene which was released a few weeks ago by MTV) After the somewhat negative reaction she received from some fans, you may in fact be interested to know that the audience LOVED the comedic relief from Kat Dennings. From here, we see them load the unconscious God of Thunder into their van, followed by the hospital scene released online by Paramount and Marvel Studios yesterday.

-Oh, and while they’re driving away with Thor (before the chaos at the hospital which culminates in him receiving an injection in the ass) we see Mjolnir crash to Earth in the distance. While Thor escapes from hospital by loosening his restraints, Jane Foster and her team discuss the Asgardian legends while looking in a children’s book which features caricatures of Mjolnir and Loki. Jane Foster is intrigued by his story (along with Darcy’s discovery of a satellite image showing a silhouette of a man crashing to Earth) and decides to head back to the hospital to see him.

-This of course results in a very humorous scene of Foster once again knocking Thor over. Back at their offices, Jane gives Thor some clothes…along with a shirt with a sticker that reads, “Hello. My Name Is Donald Blake.” The explanation? It’s her ex. While all this is going on, both JMS and Stan Lee receive cameos related to Mjolnir’s landing on Earth. I won’t ruin either of these, but will say that Stan’s was very funny and resulted in one hell of a cheer from the room.

-Hemsworth’s swagger and attitude towards Jane is fantastic, and he nails the arrogant Thor in these scenes. The full version of the diner sequence we first caught a glimpse of in the most recent trailer is even funnier in its entirety. From here, we were shown the full version of Thor breaking into the S.H.I.E.L.D base. Again, his interaction with Jane (played marvellously by Natalie Portman) is great fun, and the fight sequences are choreographed very effectively and brutally. In fact, I’d say that this whole sequence was three times longer than the recently released clip.

-And then there was Hawkeye. As Thor is fighting his way through the base, Agent Coulson tells an agent that he needs them up high with a gun. We see this mysterious character start to reach for a rifle, only to change his mind and pick up one very cool looking bow. The scenes with Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye are spread out amongst those which see Thor taking on the other agents on the ground, but there is a good few seconds of Barton (as he’s referred to by Coulson) taking aim and getting ready to take the big guy down.

--Dressed in a black combat jacket (which possibly had the S.H.I.E.L.D logo on it) and what appeared to be a short goatee, Renner didn’t get enough screen time to show us what he’ll be like as Hawkeye in The Avengers, but the lines he did deliver were perfect. I’m also convinced that I caught a glimpse of him in some sort of small mask or glasses when he first chose the bow, but this went by so fast, I’m more than likely wrong. Either way, his cameo was a great tease and a nice way to introduce the character. I also found it somewhat interesting to hear him call Coulson, “Sir.”

-And with that, Thor desperately tries to pick up Mjolnir, only to fail and subsequently fall to his knees in the rain. Surrounded by armed agents, he is handcuffed and led away as Jane Foster watches from a distance. And who else is watching? Heimdall. And damn, both he and Asgard look very impressive.

First review I've seen popped up over at CBR. It claims to be 'spoiler free' but it's pretty heavy on dishing the plot of the film, so click at your own risk. If you are here though, you are probably already spoiled so wtf:

The review is really positive. Says pretty much everything I was hoping for, but who knows these days. Think I'm going to skip the 3D though, unless it (hopehope) shows up on the local IMAX 3D, and even then only after seeing it old-school. Sounds good, though.

I say for films like these, never read reviews, always go in to see it for yourself and have a clean opinion on it. Watch the film then judge for yourself. If you go in to see the film with other opinions on your mind, that may prevent you from fully enjoying the film.

Like the old saying goes, "Never judge a book by its cover".

Dude, I don't have $50 to experiment on this crap (that is, actually going to the movies), plus endure the whole 'no smoking' for two-ish hours clause without doing some research. I tend to skim a rather large review-heavy area of the English speaking internet, trying to develop a kind of broad concensus to the pros and cons of actually hitting the theatre for a particular movie. It isn't always a very effective strategy though. For instance, I just watched Tron Legacy on PPV the other night and I've been kicking my own ass ever since for not going to see it at the theatre (3D Imax no less, damnit I shoulda').

There are, however, exceptions. The Marvel films, as nostalgia come to 'life', for me are must-see events. I read the reviews and spoilers simply to gauge how disappointed I may be walking out. While my strategy failed in the case of Tron2, it worked perfectly on the last Hulk film. Of course, I had to go see it, and knowing what other people were bitching about going in, I enjoyed what I could from it. And I've wanted to curb-munch Ed Norton all American History X style ever since. But that isn't the point.

The 'best Marvel movie ever' line did have me a tad worried as well. Just because it seems so, I dunno, planted-ish. Or really kind of 'ass-kissing' in a sort of obvious way. But, it also occurs to me, that it might be true. And that would fuckinrock.
