On A&E's webpage for Empire of Dreams, if you click where it says "Website" and go to the "Casting" section, this is what comes up in JEJ's bio:

Quote:
Born in Arkabutla, Mississippi, USA. The son of an ex-prizefighter-actor, he attended the University of Michigan, and after Army service he studied acting in New York and made his Broadway debut (1957). After his first major role in The Great White Hope (1966), he went on to star in a wide variety of classic and contemporary plays. His varied film career includes lending his distinctive resonant voiceover to the character of Darth Vader in Star Wars (1977, 1980, 1983). He has also appeared on the Simpsons a couple of times and played Mufasa in 'The Lion King'. James Earl Jones will return as the voice of Darth Vader in Episode 3 of Star Wars.

Nice to see this confirmation, but was there really any doubt?

Last year at the Hollywood Bowl, James Earl Jones did narration for the John Williams Star Wars suite and at that time it was 100% confirmed he would be back.

It'll still be nice to have an OS confirmation though. Do you imagine it will become a fully-fledged story on the OS? Possibly even a HS article?

I don't really understand why we need confirmation of this. He could be unsigned a week before release and he'd still end up as Vader's voice. He IS Vader's voice. No one else would work.

And yet they couldn't get him to re-record that one line of dialogue in empire?

See. I hate things like this.

And which line would that be? "How is that possible?"?

It all sounded just like him to me.

The official site confirmed that the "Alert my Star Destroyer ..." line was JEJ. THey used an unused track from ANH.

I'm sure Lucas has kept JEJ in the loop since, oh, about pre-TPM....

Also, what's to say he hasn't already recorded some voice work? No one knows, but one things for sure he will be back in ROTS.

The Star Destroyer line sounded a little off, a little too high pitched. I thought it might have been a sound-alike. Even if it was, it's a small nit-pick. Barely noticable.

Maybe he already recorded his lines, like Frank Oz who already did his lines for Yoda. I was shocked when I saw the interview where he revealed that.

I'm not claiming to be an expert on ANH scripts and dialogue, but I think I know the story pretty well. Where in ANH would Vader have said that line, even it it was unused from the film? At the start of the film, hes on his Star Destroyer already, Then, he's on the Death Star, where he remains until the Rebels attack, and then he goes into his fighter.

Is there a cut scene or an earlier draft of dialogue where Vader would have to alert his Star Destroyer to prepair for his arrival? Not that I know of. Perhaps one of you knows better than I.

I think Ben Burtt is covering his tush.

Maybe it was a cut line from the beginning when Darth Vader is finished aboard the Blockade runner. I don't really know since I wasn't there. Burtt, on the other hand, was responsible for the sound design of the entire saga.

I don't automatically assume anyone who might have first hand knowledge of these sort of events is lying.

What would be the point? Why wouldn't they just choose not to answer the question?

Besides, if it wasnt him, I'm sure they would have just had him record the line when he did the new record for the "How is that possible?" line. It's also possible that the line is cobbled together from bits of dialouge clipped from other scenes, like Qui-Gon's scream in AOTC. I dont know for sure, it's just the delivery of the line doesnt sound natural.

Thats true. I never thought about them taking bits of dialogue and pasting it together to form the whole thing (Like the Qui Gon Nooo). I was thinking of it more as a complete line, not as bits and pieces of different lines.

It's an elaborate joke. James Earl Jones is actually dead. He died in the Naval Hopsital in 1997 filming Clear and Present Danger.

Luis Guzman will be Vader. I read that off of AICN.

Trust them?

These are the same people that said Han is wearing a vest in the carbine chamber.. Then someone here posted a video proving it was the effect of the lighting on stage.
