Hey all,
Having read the screenplay and the novel for ROTS and seen Lucas' explanation for how the Force Ghost thing is supposed to work, I have a few statements/questions that I hoped might lead to some discussion, and hopefully some clarification from my fellow fans:
1) So, because of Qui-Gon's affinity for the "Living Force," he was able to train himself to retain enough of his consciousness after death to be able to speak to the living as a disembodied voice, while still being "one with the Force," right?
2) He explains this to Yoda at the end of ROTS, with the additional nugget of joy that with more time and training, Yoda and Obi-Wan could conceivably retain some physical form with which to communicate with the living as well, right?
soooooo...
3) Why the Hell can Anakin just do it at the end of ROTJ, without having any of this knowledge beforehand? Are we supposed to assume that, because he's the Chosen One, he just had his basic Midi-Chlorian package upgraded to the full digital service at divine birth, and just
knew not only that it was possible, but how to do it?
annnnnnnd...
4) Is the lesson that we're supposed to take away from Lucas' revisionist ending of ROTJ that Obi-Wan's reward from the Force for being an honorable Knight who saved lives and nurtured the New Jedi Order is to live out his afterlife as his wrinkly old self, but Anakin, who slaughtered just about everyone he ever met (including Mini-Jedi), subjugated countless worlds, and tried to kill his own kids several times over, gets to live out his ghost-dom looking young and rugged?
WTF does that tell you about the value of clean living?!?!
Discuss...please...I can't be the only freak out there dwelling in this crap, can I?
