More and more keeps coming out about this crazy event. It's scary to think there are people out there like this just walking around, planning things behind the scenes. It was planned for weeks. He even sent a package to NBC news containing quicktime movies of himself talking like a "tough guy" and written documents. sick sick motherfucker.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by this bastard.

The VTech gunner sent NBC both video and photos of himself in-between the first two shooting murders and the next 30 murders which happened two hours later.

UNHIDE for NBC videos and images of the gunman.

I really can't remember feeling this devastated over anything since 9/11--the thought of having to go identify your son or daughter, and the torture those families are going through is just too much, honestly, so I've kept my TV off for a long time now. That cowardly fucking piece of shit just wanted attention, and I refuse to give it to him, and I wish the media would do the same.

Anyone and everyone who has been affected by this, you have my prayers for a long time.

I just can't believe this happened. I mean if NBC got the package from the shooter 2 hours in between the shootings WTF didn't they try to warn the Virginia police department so they could pick the fucker up before the second shooting happened?

Also too if a Virgian officals had this fucker locked up in a mental facility why the hell did they let him go and go BACK to school?

A lot of questions go unanswered...

NBC didn't get that until afterward.

yeah, it was MAILED in between the two sets of attacks. he apparently killed the two people, went back to his dorm and got more ammo, went to his car and made ANOTHER video. they showed it on NBC tonight. he was saying stuff like, "it's too late now, i've already done it" past tense stuff. So he then goes and mails it to NBC and walks to the classroom where he chains the doors shut and starts to shoot.

The package didn't arrive at NBC until today. He wrote the wrong zip code on it so it had to be re-routed.

here's a link to his two "plays" he wrote as well as a commentary from one of his classmates that knew him.

This is pretty bad. Granted, hundreds if not thousands of people die everyday by violence, and I feel badly for them too, along with all those who will still suffer senselessly tomorrow and the next day all around the world. My compassion goes out to these victims and thier families.

But I've got a question, and hopefully it won't become an obvious one anytime soon. How smart was it for NBC to broadcast this info so soon? Was it to deflect some of the criticism authorities have been getting? Or did they legitimately believe it was responsible journalism? Because I can see some other lonely and angry person witnessing the level of post-rampage coverage this guy is getting and developing some pretty bad-ideas. I'm all for it being released and freedom of the press, but maybe after letting the media frenzy die down a bit first. Spree-killing is usually the result of a need for attention in some way. Showing people that it might be effective in meeting that goal, even after the fact, isn't too bright in my opinion.

Again, I hope it doesn't happen and that the issue never comes up. I wonder what the cops said when NBC said they were going to air it. Afterall, there isn't going to be a trial-jury pool to taint, theres obviously no legal reason not to air it. Still, that was probably an interesting conversation. Stay safe MF'ers, keep you guard up and go for the throat. Two fingers and about 50 psi can colapse someones windpipe. And if you try to dig in upon contact you might just rip out thier larynx.

This is why I hate crowds, btw.

I agree with your post Troy. NBC should have waited to air the damn thing after everyone had a chance to mourn and heal. Well then again do you expect anything less from the media? Stuff like this is big news to them and while they say they care about the families in reality they really don't they just want to get big ratings or whatever.

This is one reason amongst many why I don't watch the news any more. Even if I have the news on I always mute it until the weather report comes on.

See, I'm not sure though if it was or wasn't okay to air it. On one hand, copy-cats...shhhhh. On the other, how fucking twisted of a tale is this? The sheer 'crazy' factor makes it a story any media outlet is going to run with these days. I'm not blaming them if it does happen either, because I always blame the trigger-man. Sure, any case can point to four dozen environmental factors, but in the end it is always a failing in that individuals character that leads to un-justifiable violence. Blame the gunshop for selling it to him, blame his Dad for whatever, blame his Mom for having him, in the end it's the guy who did it that is at fault, 100%. At least that's what I think.

And here's a more direct question. I haven't heard his entire taped dialogue, but does this guy make any mention of who specifically he is so pissed at? And if so, did they end up as victims? And what the fuck is it about mid-late April that causes mass deaths?

From wikipedia:
-The American Revolution (Started with Paul Revere's Ride: April 18-19 April 1775)
-The American Civil War (Started April, 1861, ended April 1865, thus "Across Five Aprils")
-The Bosnian War began in the first days of April, 1992
-The Rwandan Genocide began in April, 1994
-The Armenian Genocide began in April 24, 1914

Other events that have occurred in the month of April include:

-President Abraham Lincoln's assassination (April 14, 1865)
-The Frank Slide (April 29, 1903)
-The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake (April 18, 1906)
-The sinking of the RMS Titanic (April 14-15 April 1912)
-Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination (April 4, 1968)
-Jumbo Tornado Outbreak (April 3-4, 1974)
-Woo Bum-Kon spree killing (April 26-27, 1982)
-Chernobyl nuclear accident (April 26, 1986)
-The 1992 Los Angeles Riots after the Rodney King verdict (April 29, 1992)
-The bloody end to the Branch Davidian siege in Waco, Texas (April 19, 1993)
-Kurt Cobain commits suicide (April 5, 1994)
-The Oklahoma City Bombing (April 19, 1995)
-In Lebanon, at least 106 Lebanese civilians are killed when the Israel Defense Forces shell the UN compound at Qana (see Qana Massacre). (April 18, 1996)
-The Port Arthur massacre in Tasmania, Australia (April 28, 1996)
-The Columbine High School massacre in Littleton, Colorado (April 20, 1999)
-The 2007 Virginia Tech massacre in Blacksburg, Virginia (April 16, 2007).

Plus it's tax time. WTF? :o

CNN is making me feel scared of the internet. I visited thier site and felt like I had just walked into a convenience store robbery. I'd say this is mildly sensationalistic bordering on fear mongering. But then again maybe I'm just easily intimidated.

Just read on Drudge that multiple families are now cancelling interviews they had with "Today" and "Dateline" out of anger over the released videos.

Troy, you put it very well, I think it was a mistake for Brian Williams to decide, as managing editor, to center the Nightly News around that bullshit.

Yeah April is a shitty month, I was born in April :|

This guy was truly demented. He wasn't some depressed white kid who had been bullied a little too much, this is a guy with some serious serious issues. He really was mentally ill. Reading his plays, I think he might have some father issues...like his dad or a father figure raped him or something.

Why is that package of photos being broadcasted continously? That kind of thing is usually reserved for the police.

One of his plays, entitled "Richard McBeef" shows that this dude was really fucked up and a bad writer.

Link: looks like now he was copying a movie. Commence violence and video game bashing.

He really was an awful writer. I read both of his plays and my first thought was how bad of a writer he was, not how disturbing they were.

And here I thought that people who were fucked in the head were the best writers. This guy needs to burn forever. Pick your own afterlife punishment.

Yeah, his writing was pretty atrocious. Still, I'm mildly amazed at how quickly this insanity has spawned mini-tornadoes of even more insanity in it's wake.

And I'm still waiting for some international opinion. I have read coments from people like O'Reilly, who I try not to listen to anyway, that folks are saying it's "America's gun happy culture" that is to blame. You people honestly don't believe that, do you? Sure, people get shot in America. But honestly, if he had blown the place up or set it on fire, would there have been another politically beneficial excuse to shamelessly capitalize on? Other than, of course, blaming the perpetrators lack of a spine? In the final analysis, does it matter what simple mechanical devices were legal and at hand (because that's is really all they are, people can make them bare-handed for cryinoutloud)?.

Apparently he was ready to do some damage regardless of the method available. Long term, a lot of the world isn't really any safer. And this isn't even our worst. I introduce to you fine people, Mr. Kehoe, this biggest asshole we've made yet. Back in 1927, way before "gun-happy Americans" bailled out continental Europe for the second time in the 20th century, btw. Banning anything basically just makes it more valuble.

Every country has these type of atrocities. It's just that being the United States unfortunately makes us the center of attention. In some countries they use bombs, disease, poison, etc. Psychos in the U.S. use guns. Gun control doesn't automatically stop things like this from happening, it just changes the weapon of choice.

spookier than this

[spoil]Image[/spoil]

anyone pointing a gun at you (or the camera) is more angry than crazy, but for someone to see himself as some kind of messiah figure is just way out in orbit.

Bonita High School is about two blocks from where I live.

The district didn't bother canceling classes for my school, which is Bonita's "rival" high school. I stayed home, I'm not going until they find that psycho bastard.
