Any other Floyd fans out there? I'm going to check out Waters' latest (and perhaps last) concert tomorrow night in Anaheim. Can't wait. I've seen him a few times in the past when he did Dark Side of the Moon but this promises to be the be all end all performance of his masterpiece.

How was this show?

Live performances are so much fun, hope this one was a good time for you. I last saw Floyd (minus Waters) in 1994 at Texas Stadium. I dont recall if this play list is accurate. Looks heavy on Dark Side of the Moon and lesser on The Wall. The show I saw followed 'A Momentary Lapse of Reason' the album through which I learned of Pink Floyd.

I downloaded the video of Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii a while back and those dudes looked so peaceful performing together to have come so apart years later.

In the MF DVD forum there is a "synch" of the original unaltered Star Wars movie plus The Wall Live 80-81 which sorta of works - if given a chance.

Since the split back in 1984 there have been lines drawn between Waters and Gilmour (of whom I prefer). With the passing of one the group's core members Richard Wright, Gilmour has pretty much no choice to mend fences with Waters if Floyd is fly again.

The rumor is that Gilmour is set to make a special guest appearance on one date of the current Wall tour (probably somewhere in Europe). It's probably the closest we'll ever get to any sort of Floyd reunion at this point since Gilmour is basically done with touring and I think that's the way it should be. Live 8 was the perfect p.s. to a stellar career and I'd like to think Syd was somewhere watching it all go down as it happened. At least I got to see Waters perform Dark Side of the Moon with Nick Mason on drums at the Hollywood Bowl back in '06.

The show itself was totally worth the wait/money. Since I was born three years after the Floyd last performed The Wall live, I really thought I'd never have a chance to see this show. Fortunately, it was everything I'd read about/seen and then some-the spectacle, the music, the inflatables... wow. Waters updated the visuals but the songs remained the same. Here are a couple photos I took with my crappy phone. My seat was actually better than the photos let on but you get the idea (both were taken during "In The Flesh"):

Being the nerd that I am, I also picked up a shirt and a program (which is actually pretty slick).

I was sitting next to the mother of a marine, really cool lady, and the moment "Bring the Boys Back Home" kicked in she started sobbing uncontrollably. It was easily the most emotional moment I had ever experienced at a concert and I've been to hundreds of big shows in my life. I'll never forget seeing The Wall live. If Waters comes back around later this year or next I'm definitely going to see every date he plays near me. Put whatever reservations you might have about seeing a Waters solo production of The Wall aside and by all means do yourself a favor and see it if you get the chance.

FYI for late 80's and 90's Saturday Night Live aficionados, G.E. Smith provides guitar and bass during the tour.

BTW sultan bey, there's a really good book written by drummer Mason called Inside Out that gives you a first hand account of all the behind the scenes drama that went on during the salad days of the band. It's a pretty fun read if you're really interested in the band's history.
