I didn't think anyone would believe
300 was even attempting to be historically accurate. I mean, do they really?
I liked the movie. But I also have a skewed perspective. You see, I think Frank Miller took an advanced literary technique know as 'making shit up' and applied it to a loose interpretation of history in order to 'create' a story he could call his own. In fact I never really liked the comic. I thought the art was so-so and the swinging dicks on every third panel made me mostly disinterested, regardless of how neat-o other people thought it was. None of this changes the fact that the
movie kicked ass. The great action and lack of swinging dicks made it a more enjoyable experience, overall.
The real question, is the average moviegoer going to really think this is what the Persian Empire was really like? I wonder how many people are going to wonder "Why the Arabs in Iran give a shit how the Persians are depicted in the movie anyway".
