For the price of $250 or less, you get an online console, backwards capability, and access to a great many classic NES, SEGA,SNES and N64 games.

It may not pack the same punch graphics-wise as the PS3 and X-Box 360, but the Wii-Remote looks good, and the games look fun. And you don't have to shell out $499 or $599 for a console.

I say, buy a Wii.

Definitely buying the Wii for the remote alone. Just a totally different experience. Can't wait to play baseball or football on it.

Probably buy one of the other 2 in a year or so.

Yep, I don't game much but when I do its on a Nintendo system. I just don't have time to sit around and play games on Xbox or PS that take hours upon hours to complete. When I play games I want to jump in and have at it for maybe 30 minutes or so. I think I'll be able to do that with the Wii. Also, that controller looks awesome as hell.

I read something in one of the major gaming mags about a Star Wars title for the Wii... with that remote, the game could really rock... if they do it right, which with SW games is always the question. but if they could master a lightsaber with that remote and make it fun/playable, that game would sell a ton of Wii's

Rumors around the gaming world reports that Nintendo might make the Wii VERY affordable at a low, low price of $170. I doubt this will be the final price point, but Nintendo has reported anywhere from 225-275 over the past year.

So far every other Nintendo console has been released with a $200 price tag so I wouldn't be suprised if that's the case here.

Either way, next to the PS3, any price under $300 is going to look really good.

^ I agree. There's the whole Wii360 idea, buying a Wii and a 360 for the price of a PS3.

Good sources for Wii info;

I honestly can say that I don't know anyone who will be willing to dish out $600 for a ps3.

The exact prices will have an influence on what I do for each console, however I will certainly be buying a Wii.

Wont be buying a PS3.

Will probably buy a 360, depending on if there is a price drop. I know MS are saying there wont be a price drop when the PS3 comes out, but I have a hard time believing that when all 3 consoles are in the marketplace, MS will then keep the price up at the initial level. They'll drop it. Then I'll buy it.

Wii is the system to beat this generation. $150 has been rumored heavily and if it drops at that price then Sony will be crushed. Zelda is a launch title as well as metroid Prime 3. The "wiimote" is a new way of playing games and everyone is dying to try it out. Not to mention backwards compatible with the cube, all the emulated games it's going to have including Sega's and Turbographic 16. And don't even get me started on the Star Wars games using the wii controler as a lightsaber!!! :heavymetal:

bonk and slaughterhouse!!

Nov 24 has been mentioned. I think they're suppose to announce it officially next week. It's suprising they've waited so long to announce the price and when it will ship and exactly what will be included. They've got some things they're holding out on to keep Sony from copying them.

It's official.

The Wii is coming out on Nov. 19th for $250.

Unforunately, Metroid Prime 3 is no longer a launch title. It was delayed to improve player control.

Here's new MP3 vids.

Looks like Wii Sports is coming bundled with the console. They've added bowling to everything else.

Here's the new vid.

yeah, it's a little more expensive than I thought it was going to be. But I'm shocked by how big their balls are this round. They're launching like 2 days after the PS3 does!! I'll probably get one after I sell the PS3 on ebay.

Wii sports comes with it and is said to have around 30 different sports games on it if I heard correctly. Sword fighting, bowling, tennis, boxing, weightlifting, golf, baseball...it sounds great.

Also, the Wii has a service called Mii which is basically a Myspace ripoff. You can upload your pic and create a virtual "Mii" and then these characters can be downloaded to games to play as characters or even moved to the controler to take to a friends house. Sounds fun.

The virtual games will cost $5-$10 each.

Super Mario Galaxy is looking good too. here's a link to some pics from GAF.
Super Mario Galaxy

Zelda Twilight Princess is a system seller. It's huge and gorgeous. It's said to take over 40 minutes realtime to cross Hyrule on horseback!!

Wow, bundling sports with the Wii is big, given thats probably the genre that could benefit the most from the Wiimote. I'd imagine those games would be somewhat basic though, and they'll sell bigger, better sports games seperately. But still, thats great. Hopefully the system will be out before christmas here in the UK.

And those Zelda screenies look great. Glad to see the in-game graphics are nice, that'll shut up some people that want to compare the system to the 360 and PS3.

Yeah, thats just been announced today.

And they've already decided to fuck with UK residents, charging 180 pounds ($US337), a crapload more than Americans pay, and for some strange reason its more than people on the mainland have to pay. I just dont get it. The price difference to the US is just taxes, I'm sure. But the price difference to Europe?

Either way I'll get it. But now they've got me grumbling about the price.

Great news for the most part. Only two complaints from me:

1. Only White will be available at launch. I really want the black
2. Only 1 wiimote for the console. An extra wiimote with the analog nunchuku will cost $60.

Definitely getting a Wii. I want one for Christmas and the girlfriend said that she's buying it for me, so that's the plan right now. She doesn't think it will be huge. I do and am a little worried that I won't get one.

Preorders at EBgames and Gamestop start this morning when they open their doors. $50 deposit. Might want to hurry, they will probably only have a limited number of preorders for the launch.

The poll question was are you going to buy the Wii. I almost voted no because I'm not going to, my girlfriend is. Unfortunately I had to buy her a video iPod, so it's like I'm buying the Wii myself anyway, so I voted yes.

I plan on calling EB today about pre-orders to see if they sold out or not. I've talked to three people so far and they think that the release for the Wii won't be huge. I think it'll be huge and I'm worried that I won't get one.

4 days to launch, I was just wanting to ask who will try to get one at launch?

I will be going to my local Wal-mart Saturday night at 9 pm and wait for 3 hours until the midnight launch. Hopefully, I can get one there. If I don't get there in time, I will be going to either Circuit City or Best Buy and waiting for them to open Sunday morning.

What will you do for a Wii?
