Just announced today. Apple has a new invention called iTV which will cost $300 next year. iTV is a set top box that you put on your TV. It is just a touch smaller than a Mac Mini. The awesome thing about this is when you buy a movie off of the iTunes store (which were just announced today, along with new iPods), you simply tell the movie to stream to iTV using the built in wireless in your Windows computer or via Airport Extreme on your Mac. It will stream the signal to iTV, which of course is plugged into your TV and surround sound to give you the convenience of watching DVD quality movies with full surround sound without ever going to the video rental store. I will definitely be buying this product.

You can watch the announcement on the link above.

Here's iTV (yes, its plugged in via ethernet, but it also runs wirelessly):

iTV uses the same interface as Front Row on all new macs. It works fantastic and is beautiful to look at. All I can say is :heavymetal:

Completely serious.

3 days ago I started researching Linux based code/homebrew apps to use in making my own MediaCenter for my Home Theatre System. I wanted for the application to simply sit in a recliner side arm as an LCD screen (like that in an escalade) which you would select titles from their cover artwork, in a design similar to that of front row, but applicable to movies and such which would be on a HD-arrary.

This looks amazing, and I am definitely pre-ordering. If they implement Cover-Flow with this as well, I would die.
