Is there any chance of this happening after ROTS has been released? I havn't heard squat about the re-release of AOTC and TPM alongside the third in the trilogy after it's had it's theatrical run. When is the date that ROTS is supposed to be hitting DVD shelves, and does anyone have any sort of information about whether or not it'll be included in a box-set ala the StarWars trilogy and/or some kind of special edition boxset? |

I was just thinking maybe they'd box em up like they did when Return of the King came out - which would match the OT box set, or something. I'm just suprised no-ones heard any rumblings as of yet, of course the movie hasn't hit the cinema yet ![]() |

Maybe they'll have an offer on the ROTS Dvd where you can send away for a case for the prequels. That's what they had on the extended version of ROTK, an online offer to buy a cardboard case where all the movies could be stored. Just a thought. Different movies and companies involved. |

That would be very cool - I'd go with that. There were rumours of him editing in digital yoda into TPM but I'm guessing that hasn't happened on a re-release? |

In the making of Ep III book, I believe it's Coleman who mentions that the Yoda animators for Ep III got their warm up by animating and replacing Yoda for EP I, so it might be in a release somwhere along the way. |

I could handle that. P.S. I really dig the digitalbits site. |

Quote: Digital Bits is reporting a SAGA DVD SET with all of the current movies, unchanged and an all new bonus dvd for the OT.
Nothing for the PT? |

I'm hoping they'll have a box to put them in. I'm not rebuying I and II unless it's the whole saga DVD set. |

Quote: I'd love to see Extended Editions of these films just like the LOTR films, especially with a lot of the stuff cut out of RotS.
3+ hours of Star Wars would be cool as shit. Uncut Dooku fight from AOTC, original versions of the duels from ROTS but, now that I think about it couldn't just be thrown in there, it would have to be scored right as well. Wishful thinking I guess We're probably just gonna end up watching some boring cut scenes on disc 2 of the ROTS dvd. |

The difference is that much of the extended footage in the LotR films was shot as exactly that - extended footage. There was a plan to make two versions and the scenes were structured with that in mind. It's an entirely different thing to just put back scenes that were cut because the movie worked better without them. More does not equal better and you can be sure that cutting the footage in the first place was not a choice made lightly. I'd love to see the scenes as extras but they were cut with good reason so I don't need to see them forced back into the films. |

yeah, new footage means more music, and unless there's a lot of unused music for Star Wars (there usually is for films) I'd just like to see them as bonus material under deleted scenes. |

Oh, I'd love a seperate cast commentary track, and split up the current commentary into smaller groups of professional fields, kind of like on the Lord of the Rings commentary tracks that were all lovely, share stories about the production of the movie and also what is going on at the moment on screen. At times I feel like some of the commentary tracks on the SW DVDs sound like cut and pasted interview tidbits. Georges commentary is wonderful the few times he's "allowed" to comment, there's just too many people sharing commentary track as per now. Oh and more behind the scenes lightsaberfight practices. ![]() |

I too would like a cast commentary track. Surely there will be a Lucas/Burtt/other crew member commentary. I don't like listening to Lucas as I don't have a very high opinion of him, but I do get very annoyed when I actually do want to listen to him and Ben Burtt butts in with some brutally boring ass shit that I assume very people would ever want to listen to. Whoever edits the SW commentaries is a moron, as they let Burtt talk through key moments where Lucas probably actually has something interesting to say. I wonder why no Star Wars films have ever had a cast commentary(I know Carrie Fisher did one, but she probably only talked 5 times per movie). I wonder if it's because the cast doesn't want to talk, or if they were just never asked because someone figured there would be too much joking around(there likely would be with the PT cast). |
