Expanded Universe - Love it or Hate it: Labyrinth Of Evil versus The Clone Wars Micro-Series Cartoon Ok, so now that I've read the book and seen the cartoon series respectively, I'm wondering which I should be following going into the new movie (not that it truly matters). The book, Labyrinth of Evil, claims to be the "must read prequel to Revenge of the Sith" that used a preliminary version of the script as a basis for the story. Meanwhile, George Lucas is on the Clone Wars DVD talking about the cartoon series and it's importance in bridging the gap between Episodes II and III. Both tell different stories of how we end up at the beginning of the movie. Again, I know both are EU and EU tends to get a bad rap from time to time, so I take both works with a grain of salt. Which do you MFers like better or prefer as your personal choice of prequel for Episode III? |

Well, for what it's worth, in my opinion, I read Labyrinth of Evil before I saw Clone Wars 3rd season so for me, LOE is "more" canon in that sense. But I think more people will watch Clone Wars on TV, web, and DVD than will read LOE so I imagine in the popular cultural sense, it will be regarded as canon in the majority. |

Clone Wars. I dug LOE, but the toon is much more satisfying to me. |

To be fair- I haven't read Labyrinth. However, I would speculate that if Lucas emphasizes the importance of the cartoon and the cartoon has the LFL logo on it... I would go with the cartoon. |

I'm reading LOE right now and I am so far impressed. The cartoon is cool but the novel is really doing it for me. Especially the info on Dooku and Greivous. Great backround stuff that'll suplement the film quite nicely. I will refrain from reading the Ep3 novel until after I see the film but I can't wait to devour that as well. |

i think the comics are also taking a different route with the Obsession series. Last time I checked, the series was to end right at the beginning of Ep. 3 I don't know about the Republic series but i think that may also be the case for it... |

I would go with the cartoon. And if the book also has the LFL logo on it? |

As far as the general public is concerned (and probably the majority of kids seeing these movies) the cartoon is going to be what happened right before Episode 3. |

im pretty sure that lucas at some point watches teh cartoons (they are pretty short and all anyways.. or maybe his kids watch them with him?) as for the books, whether he signs off on them or not i have less faith that he actually reads them cover to cover.. even if they may be based on what he wrote previously 9like a screenplay or whatever).. canon to me means "closest to what is in the head of GL AFTER I have seen it" |

To be fair, who´s to say Grievous and his crew didn´t face Mace and Kit before heading for Palpatine´s place? Unless he was with them at the time (haven´t read LoE). |
