Didn't Lucas or someone say that scenes in the prequel trilogy, especially Episode III, mirror scenes in the original trilogy? I was watching ROTJ with my best friend and we were talking and it struck me. Remember in ROTJ when the Emperor is killing Luke with the lightning and Luke is just BEGGING for his father to save his life? He just looks back and forth to Luke and Emperor, like he's confused before he finally throws the Emperor into the chasm. I'm wondering if the Mace vs. Palpidious scene will mirror this. As Palpidious begs for Anakin to help him, will this confuse Anakin? Will Anakin pick up Mace like he did the Emperor and throw him out the window into the Coruscant city chasm?

What do ya'll think?

There are many "mirrors" already between the first half of the story and the second half, not just in Episode 3.

One could even say that Qui-Gon's funeral pyre at the end of TPM mirrors the end of ROTJ.

What Lucas said was that the whole thing is like poetry, or a sonnet or ballade, with recurring motifs, etc.

Um, there are hundreds of mirroring shots, scenes, lines of dialogue, etc. throughout the saga.. Look carefully at the trailer and you can see that at least a 3rd of the shots have direct counterparts in other episodes, as does most of the dialogue.. you could go on about it for months.. the prequel trilogy in its entirety is basically a mirror of Luke's hero journey in the original trilogy.. you could go on forever about it. Not to be down on this topic, because the visual rhymes of the episodes are something I'm very interested in, but to think that somebody is kinda just now noticing this for the first time is a bit.. um.. :whateva:

In ROTJ, after Lukes defeats Vader he looks at his father's chopped hand and kinda emphatises with him - since Luke also has a missing hand - ,making him realise his own tap in the dark side and helping him come back to his senses.

In ROTS, we have Obi-Wan looking at his friend's lightsaber, realising it was built upon his own saber's design - and emphatising with his "brother" and perhaps feeling sorry for him. Perhaps even Obi-Wan tapped a little bit in the dark side when he found the strength to overcome Anakin and cut all those limbs off. With all probability, Obi-Wan tries to save him from his death: "Obi-Wan once thought as you do" (ROTJ). Yet Anakin rejects and says it is too late.
